ACN is a scam, do you think it's a scam?

This is kind of a question which I already answered myself, but I would like to get input from the rest of the Yahoo community.

MY OPINION/THOUGHTS

FYI, I was led into a similar situation with 2by2.net back in 2001 when I was in college. Attended meetings filled with slick (extremely slick) speakers and get pressured into recruiting people under me. Fortunately, I came to realize that this was indeed a scam. I lost money and lost some friendships.

Just recently a long time friend of mine tried to recruit me into this ACN thing. The way he approached me was VERY reminiscent of the way I approached people to have under me with 2by2.net. My friend also told me from the gate that this was not a pyramid scheme, but the way he described was exactly like 2by2.net.

I'll stop rambling on. Just like to bring this issue to light. I also like to say Donald Trump is acting as a smokescreen for ACN.

It seems to me you all have been fortunate enough to capitalize in this hierarchal infrastructure. I'm not hating, more power to you. But I doubt the methods used in achieving this success was in fair business practice. People succeeding in this thing are the ones that first take up the higher levels in this pyramid (yes a pyramid) or the ones that first devise the scheme as opposed to actually their feet wet themselves.

Also to the person that called me uneducated for labeling Donald Trump as a smokescreen - he is a smokescreen. Just because Trump endorses ACN, doesn't mean he gets involved in the TRUE operations of the company.

Lastly, ACN may have been around for a while, but their history has been anything BUT appealing..from poor customer service to reports of bad rep start-ups. ACN on the verge of technology? Your marketing products that consumers are already getting with the legit big names with BETTER customer service.

ACN is a multi-billion dollar company that has been in business legitimately for over 20 years. They are headquarted in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Having said that they are still a multi-level marketing company and any MLM is not the easiest way to make money. Many people find out that if they take a minimum wage job they end up making more an hour than through a MLM.

But, if you think you can stomach rejection, you can make great money in legitimate MLM companies.

ACN is far from a scam! It's a 15 year old world wide company with a proven track record. They are the largest direct selling telecommunications service provider in the world! Donald Trump has endorsed this company. If you think Donald Trump is blowing smoke, have you ever talked with him? I've had the great pleasure of meeting this man and he is incredible. Not just because he's famous, but his views, his ideas and what he does for the company, individuals involved in the company, and people who are associated with the company, rather it's a non-profit organization or not. Mr Trump has helped me a great deal on many different things. I'm not talking about hand outs either. Business ideas, views and recommendations. So no, you are totally wrong about Donald Trump. ACN has been featured in several magazines like USA Today, Success, Fortune etc (to name a few). I know many people who had been in those magazines and how much they are making is true. Mike Basuti, Al Saggase Jeff Webber etc etc I know personally. Very good people and always helping "the underdog" or the newbee make something of their lives. They've been truly great people to me, as well as many others. I love them dearly. Their ideas along with the co-founders and Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosawki (I probably spelled that wrong, but I never had to write his name) They are really unique people. I suggest you get to know them personally, and you will see and learn their integrity and the integrity of the company. I've met many representatives from ACN that are incredible and became close friends.
Inc 500 has rated them the 22nd fastest growing company in their first 5 years. They are in over a dozen countries, on 3 continents. They offer services that people use every day and pay for anyway. But going through the Independent Representatives, they can save money, and the representatives make money. A lot of non-profit organizations use ACN's system as a means for funding. Organizations like MADD, Tuberculoses foundations, organizations that serve the handicap, mentally impaired, mentally challenged, internally ill, Elderly and youth organizations, particularly sick children, youth at risks, homeless etc etc etc. The Integrity of this company is incredible. I suggest you take a look at www.acnintegrity.com They have Charitable programs that help fund many organizations that serve the people that I mentioned above. They donate close to a million to these organizations each year.
As far as a pyramid scam it is not. In a Pyramid scam you can not make money only if you recruit. I call these business's "head hunters" ACN business model is designed the same exact way any business is. It's a model that every corporation uses. You can slice & dice it anyway chosen, but it's the model that is widely used, because it works! ACN is not out to get your money. It's a business that you own. Not a job, not a scam nothing like that! What your investing is something that I would of killed for 10 years ago when I had my own "traditional business" The money takes care of all your accounts payable, accounts receivables, Inventory (you have no product laying around the house, they take care of that) it also takes care of billing (you don't bill your customers) employees (people who are at your beckon call 24/7 for many different things you may need), workman's comp for these people, your license, cross referencing, payroll etc etc etc. In my traditional business I paid at least ten thousand a month in all of this. Not with ACN. They take care of all that. If you've had a business in the past, take a look at everything you had to deal with, the headaches of everything I've mentioned above, or you did like I turned to and paid other people to take away those headaches and do it for me. The price was very high! With ACN it's all taken care of for a one time low fee. A VERY good deal to have. I don't have to deal with all those headaches, the company takes care of it for me!
Your recruitment issue: I'm sorry it didn't work out in your other organization. With ACN you make money regardless if you recruit or not. You can make money solely on building cliental through very good telephone services like land-lines, Internet, VOIP, digital, video phones, and cellular. Which all the major cellular phone companies have partnered up with them. Now every time people pay their telephone bills and cellular phone bills (from any of the major cellular phone providers) you get a percentage of something you did one time before. You should know this from your friend who introduced this incredible company to you.
Let me ask you this question. What do you think would be easier and a faster way to gaining an income. Going out on your own and acquiring all the customers by yourself? Or asking a few friends that you like and would like to work with to help you acquire customers? They get paid the same way you do, and you also make money off of their customers without money being taken away from them. If they acquire business partners, then their partners customers become your customers as well and you make money off of theirs and so on and so one. I've found in a traditional business it's a lot quicker to sale the product by using outside sale's reps. Majority of them only get a one time commission. With ACN you get a residual commission plus big bonus's on how many customers you've acquired. You can make a lot of money. I know a lot of people in this organization that make very good money. That is why a lot of NPO's use this as a way for funding. Example, it costs my organization 400,000 a year to run. That's a lot of money we dish out. That's just for the basics of our program. Granted to make 400,000 a year does take a few years to build. In some cases 4 to 5 years if you work at it every day, like you would a normal business. In some cases to make that amount of money, it takes longer. Some people it's taken less time. It all depends on how you work your business etc. You MUST be coach able and listen to what the co-founders tell you as well as people that have been involved in this business for a while. They know what they're doing. They're not out to screw people and make money that way. Majority of them actually are out there to help people save money. I've helped many people make money in this business in a moral way. I don't slit throats, just to make a dime. That's unethical and immoral. I make money simply by helping people save money.
The system goes beyond family and friends. We start out with that, to build your confidence in your business and help you get a ground floor. From there, we go outside and tackle another project to build your organization. Use network-marketing to build your ground floor. If you think about it, every business uses this strategy to build. Word of mouth. Example: Have you ever gone to a really good movie and loved it? Did you think the movie was really good? Did you go and tell someone about it? I'm sure you did. Did they go see the movie? I'm sure they did. Did you get paid for referring them to that movie? I'm sure you didn't. In ACN doing the same thing you do rather it's referring someone to a movie, a restaurant, a toy, etc, that you didn't get paid for, here you get paid every single month.
Have you met the co-founders of the company? These individuals are incredible. Their vision of what they want to accomplish, their representatives, which they care about very dearly. I've also had the pleasure of meeting with them, talked about my mission and got some incredible information from them and they as well helped me out with my business.
What company do you know of that the co-founders step out and help their representatives to succeed? They have an invested interest to each and every one.
I was once too skeptical, just like you. But when I sat down with each of these people and learned things that you miss in the beginning. There is so much information, everything is put on the table, but the human mind can only absorbed so much. The people involved in this business have a high integrity. They help people regardless if it doesn't make them money.
The company is not out to get your money, they're out for customers and obtaining as many customers as possible. Without customer's there is no company. Also, you have 14 days to walk out and get a full refund if you don't think you can do such a simple business. I say simple because how hard is it to get on the phone and talk to people?? It's not manual labor and anyone can do this and make money. As with any business you start, you have to put effort into it. this is easy, the effort involves picking up the phone and call people. To me, this wasn't much of an effort.

BTW I don't take any reps or money unless I've talked with them, went over everything with them and make sure they know what they need to do and make sure that they could succeed. I take an invested interest in them. If I feel that they wouldn't be able to be successful in this business, I politely turn them down by telling them that I don't think this is what they're looking for.

Wow isn't it wonderful how people jump to conclusions without finding out any background information, trying to say that ACN is exactly the same as 2by2 is like comparing say Sadam Hussein to George Bush, well they are or were both Presidents.
As for trying to convince people that Donald Trump would ever act as a smokescreen just shows what an uneducated person the asker is.
The biggest problem these days is people are still taught to get some education and then go out and find a job and create a life for themselves, well that will work for a few but in reality these days to be really successful, you will have to get to the top of a large business, those places are few and far between and positions like that do not come up often.
Yes when you set up any business, it will cost you money and usually very large amounts of money, then when you have committed it, there is no guarantee that the business will be successful. At least with network marketing the initial set up cost is minimal compared to a traditional business, but unlike traditional business, in network marketing you will have a team, which you do not have to pay, who will guide, advise and help you on the road to success. All right not everybody is successful, but the success rates in networking are very much higher than those for traditional business.
I have had the pleasure of meeting the President of ACN several times, and I was skeptical before my first meeting, at that meeting he outlined what the company planned to do when it came over the Atlantic to Europe. Well I left that meeting knowing that I had met a truly remarkable person, he laid out the company's business plan, and I can promise anybody that not only have they done everything that was in that plan but they have exceeded it.
In the last 9 years I have seen the commission percentage payable be increased twice, without having to attain any extra business, in fact any qualifications required have been reduced so that it is now easier to get a substantial income.
I would advise anybody reading this to read again the answer written by SoftinO, I know this young lady, a mother of 4, a co-founder of a not for profit organisation, captain of a vessel and an Independent rep for ACN along with her husband.
If ACN was a scam there would not be thousands, yes thousands, of reps joining the business every month all over the 19 countries in which the company operates at present.
So my advice to anybody who is asked to look at ACN is, make sure you get all the facts about the company so that then, and only then, are you in a position to make an informed decision. Networking is not for everybody and ACN encourages its reps to ensure that, if they think a person is not right for the opportunity, then tell them that in all probablity they should look for something else.
For those of us who are in the business, it is really like being part of a worldwide family, I have been at conventions with people from 19 countries and it is amazing how everybody gets on with, and helps, everybody else, something that perhaps our Politicians should come and see.

Not a scam.the have very good track record back to few years

I dont like it, my MIL tried to get us signed up and I found all the negative stuff about it on the net, and I think a lot of people that are doing it are either suckers, or use other people for money. I dont agree with making money off your family members by trying to get them to sign up under you. I would stay away from it.

I went through the same situation with Amway years ago. If it sounds like a scam, it usually is a scam. Trust your instincts.

It may be a legitimate company with real products and what have you but the whole idea for you to pay to join, then recruit 6 people, who then recruit 6, who then recruit 6 until the entire population of the U.S. is under you is quit rediculous.
