You are going to need all of those. Mostly internet is the hot thing. You should do a survey to tell where do people encounter the most advertisement. Also there is going to be an age group. For example: people ages from 10-40 are going to be on the internet more. People 50 and above might use the yellow pages ( or whatever the equivalent is where you are, but i think its still yellow pages). Also you may want to take a loan, and save some cash to have a paid programming slot. Also cheap made commercials, might help get the business off the ground, then paid programming, the billboards, and so on. P.S. If this works out for you, and you make a fortune, I want a few million lol. And Im not playing. Remember me! |

Depends what it is you do. Different products and services need different kinds of sales techniques, and nothing is a panacea (whatever the advertsing salesmen and interweb fans tell you.
The key is to know who your customers are and let that drive what you do.
For my business, for example, advertising is way down the list (after telesales, networking, and public speaking.

Choosing the right advertising vehicle for your business is dependent upon several factors:
- your target audience
- your budget
- the number of people you are trying to reach
- and the type of business you are in
I agree with Bubbl3 in that you definitely should consider having your own business website. This is the first place that most consumers are going for information about a new product or service. If you go this route, THEN you might want to consider talking to DEX online yellow pages, Google or some other online advertising provider.
But be sure to talk to several. Pricing and Conditions vary greatly from one media vendor to the next. Plus, you will get a better overall view of the marketing landscape if you speak with competing companies.
If you have friends who use the Internet to market their products or services, try to get an idea of how much they are spending. Advertising in ANY medium isn't cheap, but you need to be wary that you don't invest your money poorly. Some advertisers think just because they are spending money on advertising that they are making a good investment. But remember, it all comes down the the four things I mentioned earlier.

The Yellow Pages are antique. When was the last time you looked in them? What do you use to find a business you are seeking? Use that method!
I started a new business in December, and have used the internet, the chamber of commerce, and business networking. It's definitely not easy and you have to really stay on top of things.

Hi there, I'm from Santa Rosa so I thought I'd answer. I guess it would depend on your budget. I know when I need to find something I automatically go to the yellow pages but if it's new and maybe something someone wouldn't think of needing or using maybe the way to go would be putting up flyers or most grocery stores have bulletin boards that you can advertise on. I guess whatever your business is you would probably want to put your advertising in areas that would be interested in wanting or needing your business. Having a website is usualy what most companies do for advertising. Some use yellow book. I would pick Computer advertising if I were you but this is only my suggestion. |
