Have you tried the on-line version of Yellow Pages - yell.com? It costs less than the book and links straight through to your website, if you have one.
Another option is Gumtree. It's one of the top 100 sites visited in the UK and it has a section for Wales.
Before you commit to any advertising spend, have a clear idea of who your ideal customers are. Then target them specifically. Don't waste time and money on generalist ads when you want a certain type of client.
For example, if you specialise in hand-made furniture, your ideal clients might be the more affluent and interior designers, who, in turn have wealthy clients. Find out the best way to contact these people and then go after them. So, it might be worth putting up notices in the local golf clubs and health clubs to catch the people with money and scanning Yellow Pages for Interior Designers in your area.
It may sound like you're narrowing down your options, but, in fact, you'll stand a far better chance of getting the business you want and, therefore, better returns on your advertising spend.

What you say about the yellow pages is true, have you tried to find someone in the yellow pages, they allow idiots to put
6 AAAAs before their name to get to the front of the section so some one trading as Williams can get in front of Banning by putting the As in front how ridiculous is that, I use leaflets in my area I pick up 3% of leaflets dropped, but that then leads to other customers from word of mouth, we do a job and before we leave we put leaflets in about a dozen houses at the side of the one you have worked at, it works well for me. |
