Try cafes situated around businesses that people might go to pick up their lunch.
You want to aim at people who are employed so don't have the time to clean and have the cash to pay you. |

Absolutely! It's the first place we check when we need extra help indoors or outdoors. Go for it...and make it highly visible and eye-catching...like bright lettering, big letters saying something like CLEAN FREAK HEAVEN or whatever, and make little tabs with your phone number at the bottom for people to tear off and keep. Most people around our part of the country [e.g., all Walmart's, all the time] use the bulletin board for cleaners, log-splitters, spare pups, child-care, elder-care, etc. - whether as sellers or buyers! |

Yes. Also try colleges, make a flyer with cut off tabs at the bottom, with your phone number. You can put these in various places. |

I own a cleaning business. We tried the phone book, what a WASTE of money. You want to know how to do it. We had magnetic stickers for the sides, and the acrylic stick on letters proffesionally made for the rear window of mini van.
We sucked our first year, but then, sitting in a bank teller drive thru, the phone rings. As I was pulling away, the person on the other end tells me he is in the bank line. That was how he got my number.That one phone call secured my financial future. I want for nothing, but I dance when this customer calls. Which is daily. I turn down work now. Last year, I was lucky to get one job per week. Good luck, E-mail me, I'll tell you a lot, stuff nobody told me. |

Nope.
I used to own a cleaning business, that didn't work well at all. I received very few leads that way.
For residential:
Contact senior centers, rehabilitation centers and other businesses or organizations like that.
You want to target (focus) your efforts, where you'll expose yourself to the most people, who might want or need your services.
For commercial:
Nothing works better than the personal visit. Br prepared to have maybe 1 business out of 10, give you the time of day.
Out of those who do talk to you, you'll be lucky to get a contract out of 5% of them.
This isn't for the thin-skinned, be prepared for lots of rejection. When you get your first couple of contracts, it gets easier as time goes by, especially if you provide a superior service. |
