Sure....avoid bad advice like every post above mine.
Here's a tip...DON'T ADVERTISE! ESTABLISH RELATIONSHIPS!
Meet 100 new women a week...establish a "personality profile"...start a non-profit that gets 99% of the women in your area involved...they will ask you what you do and buy from you because you're just a giving person. Get visible but don't waste a damn dime on paper advertising. |

I think word of mouth is good, I wouldnt use leaflets because ppl are tired of junk mail and will just assume that ur advertisement is just another piece of junk and throw it away. Another thing you can do sweetness if you have the time is try advertising over the net. |

What kind of advertising are you looking to do? I imagine you want it as cheap but as effective as possible. With that business, you best bet is just simply getting to know people. leave a catalog with a waitress at a restaurant, offer her incentives to take orders for you. things like that. get out and meet people, when they ask what you do, give them at least a card, maybe a catalog. Avon has a good reputation, and will sell itself if you get the catalogs in the right hands. Usually, you will be looking at people in the lower income brackets, not the people that can buy the fancy stuff out of the boutiques and things. so go where that type of woman hangs out. waitresses in lower end restaurants, and even higher end are always good sources of business, give them a sample with their tip, make sure it is a decent but not over the top tip. Basically, for that business, you have to put yourself out there and spread the word yourself. talk to ladies on public transportation, at bus stops, tube stops, where ever you find them. work a party plan perhaps, offer incentives to some of the women you meet to invite her friends to a demo-party. that stuff avon sells that removes small wrinkles and makes women look younger works, and has been pr oven to work, so i would lead with that. i know very few women with any age on them that don't want to look younger. |

call centres - they're great. You must know someone that works in a call-centre.....200 -400 employees? They get bored on the phone you know - give them an Avon book..............
Also, face-to-face and build a mammoth rapport - everyone likes friendly pleasant people......... |

all going well i will start advertising biz in 6 months, might suit your biz, watch this space, or better still, watch out for my advertising space(s). For now the answer above suggesting word and mouth (and hard work/determination) is probably best. Live long and prosper |
