I just want to reinforce what was said before- if you're presenting these slides- K.I.S.S. keep it simple, stupid. There's nothing more boring than ANYONE who read off their slides. Put pictures and numbers on the slides, keep text off as much as possible! |

If no one is presenting it, and they are just watching the slide show, you can do a number of things. Use blue colors, depending on what you are pitching. Blue usually keeps people interested and it doesn't hurt the eyes. Change the way the text comes onto each slide. Have it float in from the side or top, or even curl into it's place on the slide. You can also spruce it up by changing the way the slides come to the screen each time. Insert pictures and information graphs as well. But don't overdo it. |

3 Tips for you. This has always work for me and my clients.(on my clients too)
1. Minimise the effects add relevant content. Apply the KISS rule. (Keep it Simple Stupid )
2. Add a video to intro or drive home a point. Shoot some video and play it in the slides.
3. Practice your timing and add question break in the slides. Seamless presentation with well timed break in the middle is much more interesting then those with transitions that overcook the presentation.
Bonus Tip
Video , Photo , Graphs, Clip Arts in that order and make sure that the message is "CRYSTAL" .

I use power point quite frequently. It is easy to get lost in the effects, especially if you have the latest version.
The way that I make my presentations effective is by keeping it simple. Your information is what is most important. You have two case scenerios.
1) you will be guiding this presentation before an audinece
If this is the case, then keep it very simple. Use the slide effect that "pushes left" and choose "slow." When, you are ready to view the enxt information, the slide will move to the left. Don't use any special effects that will make your information "fly" around.
2) you will be mailing these presentations vial email or on cd.
If this is the case, and since you are not there to guide them through your presentation, add more information into your presentation.
One last thing, find cool templetes on the web. If this is a company presentation, be sure to open your presentation with your company logo and a title of your presentation. It also helps to have a "bug" at the corner of each slide. A bug is your company logo (small) placed at the corner of each slide. Similar to waht the newscast shows on television.

First, it would be good to know what version of PowerPoint you're using. Reason being, the newer versions of PP has wonderful features that allows you to inbed other media, like music and QuickTime movies.
Assuming you have the latest, I would recommend creating a template that would be unique to that company. Perhaps incorporating their logo and colors into the header and footer.
Secondly, consider using some of the more subdued transitions for pages and type, like "Move in", where the page slides in from a direction of your choice.
Overall, note that the more "bells and whistles" this presentation has, the larger the file will be and the more difficult it will be to email, if that's how its going to be distributed.
Personally, I've used Keynote, a MAC software, to create an interactive QuickTime movie that allows viewers to click through it at their own pace. I believe you can do the same with PowerPoint.
Again, check to see which version of PP you have and if you can upgrade to the most recent, you'll find oodles of new effects to play with. (Just try not to have "too" much fun.)
