I have had many jobs in my life ... the only one I really enjoyed was sales. I have one year inside buisness to buisness sales experience with relative sucess. I have currently accepted a position as a territory manager buisness to buisness sales and am a little nervous. Any advice? Tips? Rebuttals that work for you ? |

Several have worked for me.
First and foremost make the prospect feel comfortable: Create a rapport.
Second set your self apart from the competition.
Third Don't sell the product, sell how the product will make them feel. A large portion of the population buy on how a product makes them feel as opposed to what it is.
Fourth ask for the business. Don't leave it in the air. Because, it just may blow away from you.

Keep your customers best interest in mind and you will always benefit. At times that might mean saying "I don't believe this product/service will benefit you at this time". That creates trust and referrals. Always check back, you never know if their situation has changed. If you are honest and attentive with them from the start they are more likely to call you when they are ready for your product/service. If they are in need of your service and there is no obvious reason why they don't want it, ask why. Once you are familiar with their situation it puts you in a position to tell them just how they will benefit. Don't stop there, you still have to ask for the sale. |

If you are in charge of a territory you should try to build a solid relationship with them. If you are only responsible for a certain area they will be you bread and butter.
Make sure that you are the first person that comes to mind when they have a need for your service or product.
