Any suggestions on my new website promoting my art?

I've recently published a website promoting myself as an artist and future high school art teacher. Do you have any suggestions on how it can be better? More effective? Attract more traffic? etc.

1. Go with a blog (Wordpress) as suggested above. Include some text posts on your blog as well, explaining your art or about yourself (something related to the art). Encourage comments, feedback.

2. Get your blog into all the blog directories available... BlogCatalog, MyBlogLog (you can check out my blog there are lots of directory widgets that you can click to and add your site).

3. Join a blogging forum or an art forum online, or join two or three.

You can optimize your site all you want, but the best way for you to go about this in my opinion is to talk to people, get into a dialogue with them. Get them interested in what you are doing. Show an interest in their blogs as well. Social networking is for sure your best bet for this type of promotion. Become a part of the online art community, and the rest will fall into place.

I'm an artist and webdesigner also. You can pay for web traffic. Type buy web traffic on Yahoo. As far as the look it looks nice. I might go with a gradient in the background or one of your pictures. Play around with the background a little.

try not to put your "best" art on the website only. To other people,
the art that you think doesnt look good might look good to them.

There are many different ways to get high quality targeted traffic but the most cost-effective one is by far search engine optimization.

The search engine optimization techniques are so important because the best kind of website traffic by far is going to be search engine traffic. This type of traffic is traffic who is highly targeted and because of that not only are they going to be interested in reading what you have to say but they are also going to be more interested in buying whatever you have to offer.

You're a talented fellow. Unfortunately, I don't feel that the website does your work justice. Perhaps look at changing the layout to blog format -check out Wordpress. I feel that would assist you in consistency (I see several different fonts on your site) and search engine optimisation. I'd image that when people are searching for you work though, they'd Google (or Yahoo) your name? If that's the case, strive to get a higher ranking with this site. Currently in Google for instance, other sites you contribute to rank higher.

Spread your name in the art community. Perhaps knock up some creative business cards too. Something memorable and fitting for the art that you do.

In another way, Google, Yahoo or MSN provide a Yellow Pages kind of advertisement for every website according to a set of ranking protocols. And there's where web designers and search engine optimizers play an critical role in marketing websites which in turn, display goods and services to be discovered [via search directories] by the rest of the world. The greater the appearance or presence that one's website can generate on search directories, the greater number of customers will accordingly visitor one's website.

So these shoppers are more or less likely to patronize this pizza establishment and hopefully in the long term; validate the owner and his family as having a profitable Internet enterprise.

To further illustrate how one can achieve a TOP 10 page ranking on Google.com, type in the following search query: "ecommerce tutorials seo." [Note: do not include the quotes (").] Again, this is a very generic query. Then hit Enter. In a moment or two, there will appear some 1.44 million search results and among the TOP 10 rankings will be a website called "Welcome to Downtown Los Angeles."
