Are these "get paid for surveys" real, or just crap?

Paid surveys are not just crap.
Actually they are online divisions of market research companies.
Market research companies conduct surveys on behalf of other companies so that can modify their products or launch new products accordingly. They will compensate you depending on various factors.
There are many reputed survey sites where you can join their panels for free and get invited for surveys which pay you. The earning potential from surveys depend on your location- it is much better if you are from USA or Canada. Some of the best sites are NFO survey, Surveysavvy, ACOP, Globaltestmarket, Pinecone Research, NPD etc.
Another thing to keep in mind is that there are many sites that pretend to be paid surveys and charge a fee for accessing a database of survey sites. You should never fall for that trap as you can get all the links to paid survey sites free on many sites.

there are some that are real. but earning money out of it is not as easy as you think.. and also, you should have the patience to go through all those sites and offers, signups and all that.. if you can sustain the interest and slog, yes, you can make money..

Crap. Think about it, why would anybody pay for you to take a survey? Thay're trying to sell you stuff.

Gozing.com and Survey Savvy both actually pay for their surveys, but they can take a while and you may have to qualify for the right demographic. I have taken both and been paid via Paypal. I think amazon.com is also a payment option. So many, are yes, real.

If you have to pay a fee, it's a scam.

Hi Healthmonkee,
Yes these paid surveys are for real but they probably sell your personal information to other advertisers and you become exposed to threats in your email = spam etc. I have considered it but its not worth having your name/info to so exposed on the web. I don't have facts to back this up but I have a Masters in Marketing.

Just crap.. Honestly who would want to waste money

Active_Intellect
99% of the time they are crap. Just check the company out at the Better Business Bureau and look for their complaints and / or legitimacy.

more than just crap..... a big pile of it!!!!

Paid surveys are very real. They are conducted by market research firms for major companies. Most of what you see advertised is not actually paid surveys. A legitimate paid survey panel is free to join and will not ask you to buy anything. There are some good ones at http://www.wahmservice.com
or try searching Yahoo or MSN for "free paid surveys directory"
