TV viewership for males ( young ones ) is wayyy down
as they ipod

and genrally do not watch TV
they play x box ( and hence you see product placement in games, it has been done in movies for a long time, but even then there is a backlash when product placement gets blatant )
tivo has allowed users to FF past commericals all together or skip them out period
yet they still try
and to some extent are not as effective as they used to be
brad loyalty is non exisitant as price drives the product or quality ( witness the sad decline is USA car makers who have lost genrations of buyer to the better quality yet higher priced japanese ) |

I don't buy brand names if I can find the same thing in a no-name brand. I am tired of getting at most 18 minutes of a program and 12+ minutes of advertising. This is especially true of sport oriented programs. yes some of the commercials are funny, but I'm tired of watching the program for 4 minutes then watching 6 minutes of commercials for anything from beer to tampons. No thanks! I figure if I'm paying for my service I shouldn't have to watch the commercials. IE.) HBO, Showtime etc. (Although I just filed a complaint with Showtime for using pop-up advertisements during premium movies.) It is definitely getting out of hand. |

Well let's see...you open up your a search engine. Out pops an advertisement. You receive ads by your phone...open up an email...there are links to ads...some schools have companies logos tagged on their gym's entrances...ads on hangers...paper napkins...Neah!!...One way is to reciprocate the ads. which means that if you own a business and you pay your bills via mail why not place an ad of your biz back to the payment envelope??? |

I pay no attention to products that advertisers try to pound into my head!
All of the products that I've come to trust are burnt into my brain.
I dislike being told about feminine hygene products, drugs or medication My Doctor has available "just ask", 1,000 types of cell phone plans, Cars!,Cars!, and more Cars!, Cable, Dish, Insurance, and on and on.....
If I want a product, somehow I and everybody else, knows the ol' favorite, and you don't see them advertised...THEY SELL THEMSELVES! We get bombarded 24/7 with commercials trying to sell us crap we don't need, it's just crap they want to push down our throats. Once and a while you'll see a good commercial for a new product, then if it's any good at all, that too will disappear. Even entertaining beer commercials are vanishing. But...Hey I already know what kind of beer I like, I've been insured for 40 years, I stay clear of people with herpes, Love the car I drive and have no need for a tube of Vagisil, so let's get back to the program already. |

That is part of life and business. If you have a product and you want people to buy it you need to advertise. Though I would say that a lot of Ads are many times not getting their product's point/benefit across.
