I'm a Brand Manager. My job is to make sure to develop the look and feel of my brand and make sure that every piece of material we produce is consistant with that vision. Typically, I art direct photo shoots, produce catalogs, and develop marketing programs that help our stores sell our shoes. It's a very creative job that focuses on how to create a relationship with our consumer. I have a Bachelors in Communications and I keep up with trends and pop culture, to know who I'm trying to market to.
My job depends heavily on design experience and the ability to reach consumers through different channels like television, internet, and print.
Hope that helps! |

Hi Jit. I was in marketing for several years before I transitioned into a sales job. It's very interesting, but in my profession (real estate) it was not as rewarding (MONEY!!!) as sales. Essentially, my job was to get prospects interested in our community, then get them to visit. When they visited, the sales people then tried to sell them some real estate.
The job pretty much entailed a lot of writing (journalism was my major) and dealing with advertising agencies, setting up trade shows, basically just making sure that everything went off without a hitch.
The most important thing to remember in marketing is to always have a "call to action" in whatever message you are sending out. It's great to talk about how nice a product or service is, for example, but it does nothing if you don't ask people to buy it. Always have a call to action. That's the best advice I can give in this type of forum. If you have more specific questions, I'll be happy to help. |
