As a consumer, does advertising make you feel like buying things?
yup i think so.. even if it does not really make me want to drop all things I'm doing, rush out and buy whatever they were trying to sell... it also works on a subtle level.. if its a good ad, am going to remember it.. and somewhere it will influence my decision in choosing that product
also, millions of dollars wouldn't be spent on advertising if it did not work!

It depends.
You know that ad is not the only thing that affect customer buying decision.
Stages are:
1- Need recognition:
a) actual state
b) desired state
so first you should change customer stage from actual to desired ex. car for easy transportation instead of bus.
2- Information search:
a)heightened attention (passive)
b)active information search (active)
Sources will be familly, internet, media.
so marketer should determine which information source is more influencial
3- Evaluation of alternatives:
ex. which brand BMW or Mercedes or ...
4- Purchase:
process should be easy for customer
5- Post purchase evaluation:
After sales services and warranty and follow up gives customer satisfaction and assure him that he took the right decision. Therefore, he will be loyal to the brand.
