You'd be surprised , but most "store brands" are actually made by major manufacturers using the same formula/ingredients. They are then packaged into a store brand box. Walmart doesn't have a mac and cheese manufacturing plant. |

Unless you desire a specific taste, when it comes to food, the store brands are just as good! The only things I don't use store brands of are "female things" ... I dunno, some of that stuff, I just perfer to use the name brands we all know and trust. |

If it is just for myself, then I don't care about quality unless it becomes a safety issue. When cooking for a date, I usually cook from scratch, which always tastes better anyways. Even then, I only buy the very best if it will make a difference in taste. The main ingedient of the main dish is the best, but the butter to saute it in is the cheapest. |

Personally, I have found that most of the wal-mart brand food is suprisingly similar to the original. I do buy the actual Kraft Mac and Cheese though. The Wal-mart version pasta seems a bit off.
Things that I cook with (cream cheese, shredded cheese, stewed tomatoes, spaghetti sauce, condensed milk, the actual packs of dried pasta, etc. I typically buy the Wal-Mart brand.
I also buy the name brand if I find it on sale (Wal-Mart will match the price) and if I have a coupon.
That is just me though. |

I don't. I only buy from reputable grocery stores, fresh fish and meat markets, farmers' produce stands.... and I will not support WalMart in any way.
And there's only one Velveeta... other cheese brands don't come close. |
