How do you get people to come to a School Council (this is for parents to come be a part of what the school is doing, to help make things happen for the school and for the kids - a parented council not a student council).

We are a small school k-8 of 130 kids, located in a farming community in a very small town. We need to generate more interest from parents to attend School Council's one meeting a month where they are able to learn what is going on at the school. They can voice their concerns, encourage changes and make a difference.

We will provide babysitting if they have small children that can't be left at home so they can bring them and they will be well looked after.

What else can we do to get them to come out and do what ever they can do? What works in your area, what is the reason you attend a meeting regularly, please help us find a way to get more attendees – after all it is for the students that we have this and without it our kids will miss out on many advantages.
