Amber | Avon Party Help? |
I am holding an Avon party at a local coffee house and I am having a hard time finding guests. I have placed flyers around town, asked all my friends to come plus ask their friends and family, and asked everyone on my Yahoo Groups that live close to me to come. What else can I do? I don't have a lot of money, so I can't advertise in newspapers or anything like that.

Yes, that is one main point that I made sure to put on the invitations. Everyone will walk away with a free gift. There will also be a gift basket raffle for a basket full of Avon products at the end. |

It's going to be hard to get people to come b/c most people are not going wild over Avon. I did the same thing for my business and I just invited everyone I knew and advertised in the local buyers guide which was only like $20 for 3 weeks. I had about 25 people show up which was great. I'm a consultant for Purse Party though and sometimes it's easier to sell purses and jewelry than make up. |

Having a brand name as a title of the party is kind of negative since it endorses a brand. It also implies of product selling during the said party.
As the name implies, party is for fun. But for other people who might not be interested in the brand will just be turned off because they know that instead of having fun, they will be sold products. This is hardselling.
Guests would come in if they find it interesting.So make the party interesting. If its summer, How about change the venue? Like a pool party. Then subtly sell your products (whatever that may be that applies such as waterproof make-up etc).

i did avon and i can tell you it isnt worth doing a party. firstly, you need to have lots of samples to show off and these will be freebees to your guests. i know you get them cheapish but its still putting money into the business.
also you would need to welcome your guests with sandwiches, crisps little food for them to munch on and when i did it i got a battle of wine round. they used this as an opportunity to catch up with their friends that also attended and wasnt interested in my custom.
you will probably be the same. avon parties dont go down well at all and you end up out of pocket at the end of it. if your not too far away i'll buy off you, also have some samples from doing avon that are just stuck in a cupboard, i dont use them if you want them- they always come in handy. email me |

Selling Avon or any other party type sales is really hard
It's not like people are lining up to buy the stuff
Usually these parties are held at home and it is blackmail to get your friends to buy stuff.
But to go to a coffee house,,,Who will voluntarily come to buy your stock
They may come for free coffee if it available, but they have no reason to be talked into buying the Avon stuff cause they don't know you and don't have to please you.
