We are sending out some post cards last week and still no improvement yet; I am wondering what is the average time to see the effect of marketing?
Also, what is the best day of week for customer to recieve the postcard?

I have found that direct mail is not effective. Typically, you're extremely lucky if you see a 1% return on the number of cards sent out. For the amount that you spent on producing and sending out the postcards, you could advertise on radio (advertising in print, such as newspaper or magazines, in this day and time is risky, not to mention expensive, as well). Television (specifically, cable) is another inexpensive option, but I'd go with radio first, as a badly produced TV spot (which can be done for free by the station if you negotiate it) can cancel out your overall message.
Make sure, in your radio spot, which should be written and produced by the radio station free of charge, that the message is simple and clear, and that you have a "call-to-action" element, such as a "this weekend only sale" that compels the audience to act immediately.
As most people buy furniture on a Saturday, you can further save money by advertising Wednesday through Saturday, which will (should) get you a discounted spot rate. Most people don't start thinking about the weekend until Wednesday, and, by Friday, have their plans mostly already in place.
Also, you can ask your radio rep for a station ranker for your market by listenership, which will show you the top stations, giving you a better idea on which stations to advertise. Also keep in mind that women are typically the decision makers for buying furniture, so consider stations that target women, such as Adult Contemporary stations. You can also ask your radio rep to cross reference your station ranker with women ages 25-54. And, ask if they have qualitative info that they can cross reference with the station ranker (they should), which could include listeners who have bought furniture in the past six months. This will help you further narrow down your station choices to better target the audience you're looking for. |

the only people who keep junk mail are people who intended to buy it and marketing people who think they have a better way to promote your store. Like me. I have a demographically targeted niche market publication proven to produce results in your advertising campaigns. Remember that people need to see something at least 8 times before the impulse to act on it is triggered Do you want to send out post cards every day? As for the best day, there isnt really one for mail that I know of. For newspapers just pick the day your daily seems more empty. |

Waiting for the sucess of a bussiness, doesnt have a set time. You should put up signs and posters as much as you can. Make them colorful and vibrant to draw peoples eye to. Getting a person to hold up a sign and kind of wave it around, will get peoples attention.
You could also throw a grand opening party type thing at the story. Use an asian type theme with some music, some bamboo type plants, (iKEA has some) some asian rug outside, use your imagination! Drop off nice flyers in peoples mail boxes.
Dry advertising on a radio, you dont have to broadcast a commercial but some radio stations will mention your events or stores if you email the station and tell the host to do it.
Whatever you do, dont give up and stay persistent! Keep giving out posters and flyers and postcards, people will remember when they need to. |

if it is business people, put an add in local business magazine, if it a particular culture you are aiming for, put an ad in the newletter from a group or church, if its wealthy housewives, put an ad up at the local fitness club or golf course
