Well depending on what kind of business it is, you can usually post flyer's or advertisements on bulletins in your local super market or grocery store. Also, I know of some people who post flyers to gas stations. Maybe do this and advertise for an open house for people to come to your business. :) |

Where do you live? Are you sure radio is out of your budget? They can actually creat the voice overs (commercial) for you. Know that the rates are completely negotiable. Offer to pay half of what they are asking. Air time doesn't cost them anything they are just trying to get the highest bidder. If you aren't willing to pay, then don't demand less. |

Read a book on Public Relation skills. Public Relations is the best form of advertising. It's an art, however, some are so slick in promoting their or someone else's company, you think your are listening to real news, but it's only public relations promo. |

I think if your sponsered by a really big local company your more likely to get more things.
Start from the bottom, shop windows, car windows, don't hand it out personally or put it in a newpapers, how about the radio or is that off budgit?
Visit schools if thats your sort of company or after school... |

You could use Google Adwords - it offers two ways of keeping your ads local. One is regional targeting so you can ensure that only people located in your target area see your ads, or additionally, you could have a broadly targeted campaign (nationwide) that uses locally-themed keywords such as 'IT Support in YOURTOWNNAME' which will mean that only people adding that local area name to their search will see your ads. |

You can try craigslist and the radio. This worked at my job. Good luck |

I have created a local advertising site at http://salenook.com where you could advertise your business to locals for free. The ad is displayed throughout the site instead of hidden in a list, so your ad will be seen. I hope this is helpful!
Good Luck
