I agree with others that Internet Search Ranking is important. If you really want to kick off your internet search traffic in the meantime while you are build up your back links use a these few options...
#1. PPC (Google Adwords and Yahoo Search) Pay Per Click Marketing Gets targeted traffic faster than any other method.
#2. I always post free classified ads- they are free and easy to post which also ads a realevent backlink to your website which ads to your website rank in the search engines as well.
You can also pay for classified ads to get better palcement and ranking to but start posting free ads here...
#3. I always ad auction ads to my website as it helps add new changing content which helps bring back repeat traffic. Because repeat traffic is a way to get people to trust you more its works very effectively than just regular traffic. Auction ads are also free to use and you can combine them with adsense if you'd like, you also make some money from having them on your site to :) Here is the link for that..

The best way is really to make sure you put as many search keywords in your headers in the html code (or whatever) so your site comes up on Google. Apart from that, you could add your website address to the signature of any business emails so that they are made aware of your website. Also, the obvious one is to advertise on something like Kelkoo or ebay where lots of people look for products - depending on your business I guess.
Sorry if this is useless but the company I worked for previously lost out on a multimillion pound contract because when the client company looked us up on Google, we were on page 59 or something like that and our competitors were on page 1...
