I have to guess who is in you target market but I would think mall shoppers might be. If so paint or print a large banner and put it on a trailer so that it looks like you are taking it to the salon and go to the mall. Park near a door and spend a few hours shopping. Then drive some busy roads near the salon. Take it to a grocery store and park where the banner can be seen by passing cars while you shop for grocery's. Also park near a movie theater. Then put the banner up at your salon. Take the banner down about two months later and repeat the process. Another Idea. Have some pens printed with the name address phone number and coupon on the pen. "Return this pen and get $x off your first visit." Leave some prens on the tables at the post office or on tables at coffee houses or restaurants. Just carry around ten or fifteen and leave one here and there. Another one. Get some nice embroidered hats for employees and give them to them if they say they'll wear them. You can also get lip balm with your salons name on it but the distribution won't be as easy |

Buy cute little halfshirts and emboss your logo on them and pass them out to hot chicks, just ask them, may I give you a free t-shirt? When they say yes give it to them and ask them to visit your store sometime. Whever they wear that t-shirt it means free advertising for you. |

Since a tanning salon is a localized business, one idea might be to have boxes distributed with a lenicular sticker/sticker with movement showing people with and with/out tans. Inside the box some giveaways that you refill on a bi-weekly basis. Distribute this to areas where you are getting a high level of traffic for your target audience ..close to your salon. Another idea is to have a contest, where contestants need to come-in to your salon to enter. You can have some fun trivia questions (related to the best tanning spots around the world) and make it fun. |

Print up some flyers that promote "We need local people here in (Your City), you know, our neighbors to be models for our new Tanning Salon - NO Professional Models Please!
Have these flyers handed out to all of the businesses in the area. Leave several at any local Gyms. See if the local Gym would like to do a joint promotion with you. |
