Can I post real estate ads from wall street journal on my web site or are the copy written?
I want to republish wall street journal and Los Angeles times real estate advertiesments on a web page, but don't want to get in trouble for using their content without proper authorization. Is an paid for advertisement in the printed newspaper owned by the publisher or advertiser?
The ads are copyright protected, but your chance of getting into trouble by republishing them is almost zero. From an advertiser's standpoint, the wider-spread the advertisement, the better. Most newspapers would brag that their ads are getting displayed "all over the web."
Worst case scenario: You'll get a cease and desist letter from one of the publications' attorneys. At that point, it would be advisable to stop. But that is not likely to happen.

To be for sure, go to their websites and ask them If you can post some of their ads. If it is an ad, they are getting paid from the person running the ad, and your giving that person some free advertising. If anything, find out who some of these comanys are, and see if they are willing to do some advertising on your site.
