It depends on what type of advertisement.
If you're giving banners, you may want to consider a CPM (cost per thousand impressions) rate.
If you're giving text links (NOT text ads), your site's PR will most likely determine the price. PR4 sites usually give sitewide text links from $10-$25 per month, depending on the niche. But since your site is new, maybe $2 a month would be okay for now (considering the traffic). |

The fact you used the terms 'hits' is worrying. Don't approach anyone using that metric, it is worthless. What are your page impression and unique visitor stats, and how long do people stay on your site? Thats what an advertiser wants to know.
Also, you don't need to sell advertising on a one to one basis, and i don't think many advertisers will take you up on the offer, certainly not with just 2000 hits (I presume you mean visits). Sign up an affiliate with a site like Commission Junction or sign up with Google Adsense to display their ad network (they do banners as well as text ads) |

Have you considered going to someone like Azoogle or Commission Junction and looking for ads in your niche. You will probably get paid more on CPA (cost per action) type ads rather than CPC (cost per click). You would then have more control over what ads are being shown and a regular supply rather than waiting on the vauguries of the ads of others.
If you are going to charge, bear in mind you can ask for more for ads that are shown at the top right of a page as this is considered the prime spot, |

If your site has good PR, instead of advertising you can place other links with a description on the page. In this way you can place many links and make good money. On left and bottom of the page you can provide featured listings in bold letter for higher charges. If you get good ranking for all the pages of yr site , over a period of time you can make more money. U can visit some paid listing directories to find out their payment structure.
The more you market your site, the better the ranking and the traffic over a period of time. You can charge according to the rank and the traffic. You can also create a banner at the top and the bottom in all the pages and charge more accordingly. |
