In the 10 years I've been on the net as a solid net user I have probably been to a dozen directories and used them to search for something.
The best techniques that enable your business to generate more business are not directories -they do help with your ranking but they are not the ones that you should put your eggs into.
Writing articles and sending them to article Sites is the way to go. These sites inturn send it on to their signed up members who later on publish it on various websites.
Go article marketing. |

Its a plus and it wouldnt harm submitting articles.
Many people think that advertsing in one way and that way only will gets results - wrong. You have to try ALL the best options as you can coz simply youll never know whos interested in you / website.
Search here for directories:

Advertise here too:

Hope that helps. |

There is an ongoing debate in SEO circles regarding the value of FFA (free for all) directory links. Some argue that they are not worth doing because they do not pass much value along, especially in Google, since Google likes to see links that are coming back from sources that they deem as relevant to your site. On the other hand, MSN merely counts the links and accredits value to them, while Yahoo falls somewhere in between, counting all the back links but giving more value to links from pages with better Page Rank. There are other things to consider but generally these links are better than no links at all in the long run. On the other hand, your time may be better spent in pursuing more relevant links. |

directories submissions are more like icing on the cake. i wouldn't expect your website to blow up over night but its a great added touch to an over all marketing strategy.

Yes of course directory submission is beneficial to boost back links for a website, but care should be taken while selecting free directories.
Do not expect great results from these directories.
Make it just a part of your linking strategy.
A new website should be submitted to high pr directories,a big list is available at onewaytextlinks, addurl.nu.
So submitting to free directories is an efficient way to
get some of them. They may not be worth much, but in my opinion they're better than nothing at all. I have used them for a couple of
new sites and really think they helped.

Hi,
I have a lot of experience marketing small companies online (I have 3 companies). One of the best ways is to sign up at business directories and protals. These are basically listings of businesses (simliar to the phone book). The advantage is that these portals usually get a lot of traffic and they're ranked high on Google because of all the quality links they contain.
My favorite portal is called Directory Exclusive. I signed up a few weeks ago because they're giving a away a free business card holder when a person enter's their company info. I received it in the mail 3 days ago =)
I don't know if they still have that promotion, but you can try to get the free card holder here:
