You have a very specialized business. A grand opening won't help you get business unless you can tie it in with a local motorcycling event. Your shop could serve as headquarters for a local road race or club meeting. You could kick in the food and ask that people buy tickets and you will donate all the proceeds (or profits) to a charity that the club supports.
You also need to figure out how to attract the "non club" motorcycle riders in your area. You might try a consistent ad in the classified section of your newspaper, for starters. If you plan to go national, place a classified in the classifieds of national motorcycling magazines. You might even want to "sell" some motorcycles on EBAY. You don't actually have to sell them - you can put them out there with a very high reserve. But for folks looking it's a good way to get your name out.
Find motorcycling events and buy a display table or sponsor the event so that you can hand out flyers.
You might even want to consider creating a club or store affinity group. Pick a charity to support; enlist some folks and start your own events. You might get some press coverage if you do.
I would NEVER underestimate the importance of a strong logo for your business. You will need it for Tshirts, hats, imitation tattoos for the kids at events, and so on. Hire a good artist and create a memorable logo. |

You may be able to get the chamber of commerce locally to hold it for you and have a ribbon cutting, or to help you out with details. Put up signs in the window, invite your friends, send out emails. Also, you can pay the local radio station to come out, and they'll publicize it on air for hours, but it will cost you. |

Put an ad in the local paper offer free hot dogs and pop. Put out balloons, have a draw so that you can build a database of interested customers. Perhaps include a coupon in the ad that gives folks a discount. Get some magnets made up with your contact details that you can hand out.
If there is a local motorcycle dealership and/or club - involve them.
Also suggest that you join the Business Man's/Person's Association, Chamber of Commerce/Board of Trade to build up your network. Referrals are the bread and butter of this business. |

Yes you need a Grand Opening depending on your location you could hire people to do inflatables and banners. Also do combination advertising, radio,TV, and news paper with a branding statement.
You need a good audio logo {jingle} that is designed to brand your new company. you can contact the people at this site and they can put you in touch with professional people who can help you.
