I've been using Linkshare for over a year now, and I just started with Commission Junction as well. I get tons of click throughs, but never any sales or membership sign ups. On the one hand it makes my own webstore look a little more professional, but at the same time I hate to think that I'm giving free advertising to these companies. |

Yes affiliate marketing really works but is a lot more than just put banners or text links on your website and just waiting for the customers to come and buy. Don't forget that there are other very big players who sell the same product like you. To be a good affiliate marketer you must have an established business and sell a product that is related to the affiliate products you sell. It is not an easy way to earn money. I tried in the past to make a living through affiliate marketing but i didn't manage and quited. |

that's what affiliate marketing is all about. free advertising for companies. for that reason i'm not worry too much about affiliate income or promote a lot of affiliate products. i only focus my time on building content and link hopefully overtime i'll build credibility on the eyes of the search engine. when we have a lot of traffic advertisers will come to us. so target that on your biz. people buys mostly based on expertise, credibility and trust. |

Hi, I have an affiliate program and yes, it DOES work. Many of my sales come from the affiliates who sign up, and they are paid for the referrals resulting in sales. The more affiliate programs you partcipate in, the better your chances of making sales.

the reason your getting high click throughs and poor convertions is because of your keyword selection, it's very likely you haven't done your research correctly. When your advertising your products via adwords or the like, it's always best to think laterally and target keywords that are most likely to convert, i.e. if you were advertising the new ipod nano, I would say that the keyword "ipod" although more likely to be typed in, is less likely to make a sale on. Whereas the keyword 'buy ipod nano' or 'purchase ipod nano' is far more likely to convert. The catch is that highly targetting keywords have very low search counts so your going to have to create loads of ad groups under highly targetting keywords.
