of course they do, you always hear that this is the best product or the greatess fridge. All of these things can be lies without the company getting into trouble as they're describing words and therefore not stating what a product can do.
however they can't state something a product can't do and get away with it. If I washing machine that states "it drys your cloths too" and doesn't then you can sue the company for false advertising or at least get a government watch dog to refund your money and get the product statement changed. |

OF COURSE! IT'S CALLED ADVERTISING! Ever notice how they always put disclaimers in them? They do this so you can't sue. They don't tell outright lies but they certainly stretch the truth with claims sometimes! They also conduct their own research at times and use only the studies that make the product look good.

One of the most often heard claim is "Nothing is better than XXX ...'
Correct = nothing IS better ... (especially when used to promote 'life style' products)
PS one of the best adverts I've seen is for a meat product .. their punch line is 'It's a bit of an animal'

1. Business schools teach employees ethics but always avoid ethics for the business itself, rationalizing unethical activities as good business.
2. The smarter companies lie carefully and strategically, so as to not cause enough frustration to provoke a lawsuit.
For example, I bought a clock with a feature called smart-set with an icon which looked like a satellite. It was very vague on the details of how it did this but it said that it automatically 'sets itself' well 99% of people assumed that this was something tied to the atomic clock whereby it downloads a signal from the official atomic clock and keeps the time current. NOPE, in fact it's just a battery with a preset clock at the factory. So somehow, 'battery included' has now become 'smart-set' now the clock cost $20, is it really worth it for to complain, or sue? These are the types of lies that companies intentionally get away with....more and more these days it seems... |

They lie about it but stay vague.
They can say its the best in there opinion, but not the best is the way it should be. If it comes from China like all the other junk we get from there it don't even matter. |
