Do u think it is good that M&S are charging 5p per carrier bag? What are your views??
Should other companies (Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys etc) follow their lead??

Good idea but it should be more and it should be a standard across the industry, and why stop at food have you seen the size of bags that they put small items in at clothes shops why do we need them either.
Bring back paper bags!!! recycled of course, save the planet!!!

I live in northern ireland and M&S have been charging here for bags or a while now in their food courts. I agree with it. My kitchen cupboard is filled with plastic bags and it is god to reuse.
Every little helps! ;-)

Good for the environment and hopefully we shall be able to find a way around the problem of carrying the food from M&S to home. Pending a way out I shall be using Tesco bags for this purpose. If M&S will provide me with sufficient environmentally acceptable bags then I shall not need to use Tesco bags.

yes thy should, people need to start to re-cycle, if it takes a push from the shops, so be it

debs
yes as long as the 5p isnt going to profit the fat cats m & s etc and goes to charity etc

debbie
I think it will make people think twice about how many bags they need each time they shop.Ive seen people double up the shopping bags before putting just a few items in.

Yes, it's a good idea and it should be taken further. I'm worried about the damage it's doing to marine life. I think that bags should be made of paper now, I don't think that charging 5p will help, it won't put people off using them. I remember when supermarkets used to use, used boxes for your shopping. Let's go back to that.
