They always show it as young healthy people drinking because the truth won't sell.
Imagine them showing a 50 year old that looks 65 with the red nose and whiskey voice who had been divorced and lost their jobs. That won't sell much nobody wants to see what it does to a body. Drinking is mostly pitiful not fun. Most of us will drink a few drinks a year but they want you to drink till you drop. |

Adding to what others said...
"alcohol" is a broad term for the industry. Young people are unlikely to drink Chivas Regal or Johnny Walker Black Label. On the other hand, young people would tend to consume a lot of beer, and in France a lot of wine is consumed by the young people.
Young people are likely to drink more and want to spend a lower amount of money per drink. Older people tend to spend more money per drink and the upscale brands have very little interest in the youth. |

They target adults which in turn kids see.
Kids see mommy and daddy belting back a few and then it's a learned condition that it is ok.
Older teens experiment since it is probably in the house anyway. Then they want to try and get their own so they and their friends can be cool.
I really think, and hope, that most teens have a lot more sense than they did years ago and enjoy life a lot more than turning to alcohol. They've got too much going for them.
I hope. Alcohol is a learned behavior. It's not an illness. |

They do try and target kids sometimes and it is a very bad thing. There are many ways they do it but one is that they show teenagers drinking and because most kids aged 8-12 want to be more adult-like they get some alcahol from somewhere maybe a brother or sister and start drinking which is very bad for their health |
