HAHA!!! i get creative every time ANYONE i don't know calls my house. mostly telemarketers, but bill collectors too. (they don't scare me!) i crack myself up so bad. if you look at most of the questions on my Q&A, you will see the kind of stuff i pull when a stranger calls my house, very similar. like if a bill collector calls and asks for my girlfriend, i reply in a gruff male voice: "yeah, this is her." then it goes from there. i act like i'm her, but talk like a man. all macho sounding and everything. also, sometimes the bill collectors just ask if my girlfriend is there, but they don't say who they are. now, i know it's a bill collector, but if it's a guy on the line, i get all mad like she's cheating on me and i just caught her. that one works great. i wish more people would do this kind of thing. it's harmless fun. if you really piss someone off, they just hang up. big deal. but usually they try to be professional about it, and so it becomes even more fun. and i just know that i might have made someone's day alot more interesting. i have even had quite a few telemarketers laugh hysterically at my jokes and even thank me for brightening up their day. i mean, if you sat at a phone all day, every day, and had the same boring crap happen all the time, it would get pretty tedious. but if some nut like me gives you something strange to talk about at the water cooler, or at dinner with the family, and everybody laughs, then i say i've done a public service. peace. |

Yes. I usually pretend that I can't speak English, and start talking to them in Spanish or Italian. Usually that throws them off. Sometimes, however, I come across a rare multi-lingual telemarketer. Then I hand the phone to the baby and let him babble happily and whack the phone against his blocks. They usually give up after that. But not always.
It REALLY annoys me when I still get calls from telemarketers, because I'm supposed to be on the "Do not call" list. |

Oh yeah! Although I am far from it, I sound like a child over the phone. If I suspect at all that it is a telemarketer, I go out of my way to sound young.
Me: Hello
Telemarketer: Is your Mommy home
Me: Yup
Telemarketer: May I speak with her
Me: Who is this?
Telemarketer: This is Randy with Sprint
Me: (Loudly--to no one) MOMMY, Randy with Pint wants to talk to you--Oh, I'll take the phone to her, just down the hall, oooo, my room, here, you can meet Tawny, my giraffe. Oh, Oh, and Sarah, she is my pink bunny. . . .
you get the idea.
If they don't think I'm a kid and they say, "Good morning, Mrs So and So this is Jason with such and such, how are you today? I launch into a list of complaints and ailments that would make a 110 year old feel young. |

Oh, I'm creative alright, when they call me. I tell them to hang on a minute, then come back 10 minutes later, then I say I'll be right there, and do it again, if they are still persistant and keep hanging, I tell them, thanks for letting me waste 20 minutes of their time, since they are trying to waste mine, they usually get pissed and hang up after that. |
