To put it specifcally, do you think less of a company if you suspect, or outright know if a company's call center services are offshored, or located outside the U.S.? Sorry to be U.S. centric, but that's the answers that I would like. Do you feel less inclined to do business with the company if you discover this? Do you feel like the company cares less about customer service? |

To be honest, when I get an answer from an offshore company it really does affect my opinion of that company and makes me trust it less. I may know the company to be legitimate but when they want personal information I tend to decline for the sake of them being outside the US. I believe any company doing offshore doesn't deserve my business as a US citizen.
I know a company will do this to keep up with demand with pricing competition however I still don't approve of it. |

If i get the answers i need, its fine by me.
As for the comments about outsourcing, perhaps people need to consider that this cost saving method actually works to save jobs in North America. What a company can save with this set up, they will likely invest locally. Call centre work is one of the most hated jobs in America, and turn over is huge and expensive.
It sucks that clearly there are cheaper alternatives in other countries, but it may be needed to keep the bigger company alive. |

Micosoft outsources it's phone call help. Try calling them, for me, it took three tries before I got someone who could actually speak English well enough to comunicate with me, I hate that. |

I don't know if the company feels less about the USA. But, to me the company that hired them feels less about the USA. If that makes since. Have you been shopping lately and looked at tags or stamps on the back of things to see where they were made. I have not seen anything but made in china. That really makes me mad. Like we can't make a plate or cup or shirt. I really try not to buy that crap, but when it's everywhere. Even in the grocery stores, can you believe that most stuff comes from china there also, garlic for instance, what we can't grow our own garlic!!! Please give me a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... |

I don't feel differently about ofshore customer service or help centers. I do feel bad that it seems most of these centers make their staff use american names. I just don't expect to hear a man with a heavy Indian accent refer to himself as Roger or Jack or herself as Emily or Susan.
Be honest if you are offshoring call centers and let these people have the dignity of using their own names.
I don't think this reflects their quality of service or any lack of caring about their customer, in most cases I think you can speak to a person more easily in these centers than in a center where they try to keep costs down by cutting staff. Although i have had situations where there was no supervisor available for a difficult or unusual question. |
