This is a minor point and I thoroughly understand M&M's advertising psychology of trying to personalize their different M&M colors so that consumers might be able to relate to M&M's personally....BUT...

When I think of an M&M, my first reaction is -- "I want to EAT it. Where's mine?" And when I see M&Ms running around on television, riding skateboards, making faces at fish in an acquarium, or watching movies with refreshments at the theatre...and they all have wig-like HAIRDOs on...I just go EEEWWWWW!!!!

Was there perhaps not enough discussion of this "hairy M&M" concept at the advertising agency or marketing department who originated these images?

I bet now that I pointed it out, you won't look at M&Ms again without thinking of hair in your food.

P.S. This is a question that was meant for fun. For those who question why I would even bother ask, I ask why would you even bother to ANSWER?

I don't run around kicking furniture everytime I see those M&M commercials with hairy chocolote. It is just a MINOR irritation and I think an advertising idea that may not have been fully thought through. I have worked in advertising for years so yes, these are the considerations the creative people are supposed to think about and I was just curious how many people out there might have caught this "hairy chocolate" snafu too.

Personally, I like the old M&M characters better where there were just two -- the Regular M&M (short and red) and the Peanut M&M (tall and yellow). They had distinctive voices and personalities. These new hairy M&Ms just run around doing kid stuff like getting mo-hawks, making faces & photocopying their butt.. Ha Ha. My candy is so funny now. I want to hear them SCREAM now as I MASTICATE them into oblivion!
