Do you need to pay for placing your advertising leaflets at Shop Owners Counter?
Hi.
under what condition would a shop owner allow (freelancer namecards) to be placed at the boutiques counter/ cashier counter?
I am trying to place some (leaftlets/namecards) as a form of advertising at related shops counters but i am not sure about the normal practice nowadays.
If you guys have done it before, please share your experience.
Did the shopowner charge you for taking up spaces at the counter?
I used to work for an apartment complex doing their advertising/marketing. I asked shop owners if I could do that, and in trade I took a flier from them and placed it in a welcome folder for new tenants. That way we traded the advertising. Most smaller shops will do that. Bigger chains are hard because they dont' care about the free advertising for themselves.

There is no rule of thumb. Each shop owner is going to have a different thought on the matter and will react differently. The best thing to do is to go into shops that you think your service would mutually benefit the both of you. Explain why it is that your business card would actually be a benefit to the shop owner and it is not taking away from his business but adding to it. If your service is some thing that he an try, let him try it so that he can vouch for your quality and he is not putting his reputation on the line with his own customers.

Last couple of place I have worked at didn't charge anything for it, they just had to talk to the manager to get it approved first, and had pretty much anything from the national guard to take out places. Worst thing they can tell you is no or ask for a fee.

Most counter space is valuable to any shop keeper.
If there's nothing in it for them why should they help you?
You really wont get good coverage that way anyway.
You best setup a website and advertise as follows and get a larger viewing audience.
It’s rarely an instant return on the Internet. You need your website coming up relevant to what people "search for" on the Internet. It takes time to get placement in the right places within the Internet and if you're listed in the right category of searches you stand a better chance of returns. The following is one of the better ways.
For a small charge you can have a “Permanent” website advertisement placed in an index such as this in a choice of around 750 categories to target your business trade.
This will raise your website profile and increase its chances of extra sales because this site is indexed by the search engines placing your site within public searches.
The advantage of a site like this is that you don’t have to update your listing again.

No people don't charge you to do that just make sure you ask permission. Usually people don't have a problem with it unless they have a sign saying no solicitiong.
Go in ask for the manager or owner tell them what you are doing and ask if it is ok to leave your brochures.
