Do you think $400/ a month is a fair amount of money to pay an SEO company?
I have been in contact with a company called Increase Visibilty...they look rather impressive, do you think it is worth it?

Their site is www.increasevisibility.com for your reference

Before you hire an SEO company, you should do a bit of research. SEO is actually very simple... if you know the basics, you are all set... check out http://www.gettingmorevisitors.com/2008/03/10/5-seo-basics-for-beginners/

Not necessarily but again it depends what they are doing. Are they optimizing your page? Are they doing link building? Will they show you detailed reports? Make sure you get several details and step by step information about what exactly they are doing for your company before paying $400 a month. It is not unreasonable as even though you can do several things yourself, do you have the know-how and the time to invest? It can be very time consuming if you wish to be successful so I wouldn't agree with the user above.

$400.00 is a great deal as long as they are offering you something in return. I, myself, am a Search Engine Optimization specialist. Don't fall for any 1st page guarantees or opt in link farms or anything that does not seem to be on the up and up. Just remember that SEO is a marathon not a sprint and it is an ongoing process. Just because you rank good one month does not mean you will rank well the next.

I think that you shouldn't pay anything for better SEO of your site. Specially if they costs $400!

You can do all you need completely for free on your site. Why to pay for better SEO if you can set it up how you want it.

That is like asking is buying a car for $400 a deal?

You really do not know until you see the specs.

When it comes to charing for SEO - companies have to consider the following:

- how many pages are being optimized
- how many keyword phrases are being optimized
- how many content rich pages are being created
- how COMPETITIVE is the keyword phrase you wish to optimize for
- are they offering link building (both internal and external)
- how about web analytics in this package? Are they simply doing the SEO - or are they going to provide you reports on the conversion aspects as well?

I actually train web consultants on how to do SEO for their end clients. Before I would hire someone to do SEO for my online business - I would check to see how they are ranking in their industry.

Do they come up for the top keyword phrases? If they cannot compete in their own industry - how can you trust them to perform in yours (although their industry might be more competitive than yours)

Check to see if they are doing the basics - like creating affective title and description tags for each one of their pages.

Go to google and do a search for: site:increasevisibility.com

Have a look at the results - as this is what your pages will look like when they have completed.

Anyways the list can go on - but it is also important to see their previous work.

Someone else mentioned that SEO is a process (which is true) but there are still quick ways you can climb into the search engines without any blackhat techniques.

Blogging, social networking, social bookmarking, even youtube videos are great examples.
