Do you think money buys happiness?
Check out this Crazy auction on ebay over a Costco Cash card worth $50. The seller eBay user id: surfer_roy Auction # 120088233225 has generated more than 500 bids that is currently at $17,000 He claims eBay is helping him with this auction. My question is.Is this a scam or test to see if you pay the final bid if you win?In his auction he explains how money has shaped our society and how we are greedy and how we can spend so much money for something so invaluable. He mentions morality and other religious notions.Ebay sellers who have these popular auctions get a lot of hits but you can never tell if they are real or what they are up to.I am amazed that he has a perfect 100% score.I am a seller too.I have bid up to $16,000.00 for this $50 GC. I know call me outrageous but I have played his game! He has previously sold a DVD set for a whopping $300,000.00+ He says he doesn't pay Ebay fees for it and he tells you it is optional to pay the winning bid.Type 120088233225 on eBay!Check it out!

More power to him and the auctions he run

To answer the question, NO, money does not buy happiness. While it helps you acquire your basic needs, there are many people who have the world of money and are the most miserable bunch of people you would ever meet.

Then they are those who have it, and in order to protect it have to create for themselves self-imposed prisons. Griils, locks, electric fence and can't live a quiet life. Many times you are wont to hear a rich person proclaim that they wish they could like a quiet peaceful and private life.

Then there is another class where the more money they have, the more they want and would do absolutely anything to get more, even if ti means scamming the system.

It's a paradox, just look to some jackpot winners and see what happens to them 2 or 3 years after the big win. bankrupt and penniless!!

I don't believe money buys happiness. Look at all these stars that are going crazy or killing themselves. *cough:Britney Spears and Anna Nicole Smith* They have all the money anyone could ever need and they still wanted more. Money buys discontent and greed, not happiness. Hope it helps. ;) ~*NICOLE*~

I'm going to attempt to answer the basic question without trying to decipher the anecdote....money doesn't buy happiness. It usually doesn't hurt the situation though. There was a study that showed that the difference between earning $5000 and $50000/yr. is big, but that happiness doesn't increase much at all when you go from $50k to $300k. If you have health problems, marital/relationship problems, mental problems, work-related problems, etc., more money will usually not cure these things. Once your basic needs are met, like shelter, food, etc., happiness due to money increases very slowly after that.

I think money does buy happiness. Celebrities going crazy isnt over money (i think) as much as fame and what comes from living in a fishbowl where everyone feels they have the right to watch and judge you every minute of every day.
It's what you do with the money that brings happiness. I'm sure Angeline Jolie is happy that she gets to change the world and bring joy and hope to MILLIONS of people because she has money. Ask the sick and poor who can't afford a simple doctor's appt. let alone medicine if money would make them happy. The inner city families who are stuck in drug and gang infested areas would money to move and start over help? Of course.

Somebody is happy! That's a heck of a return on a $50.00 investment..........IF IT'S REAL!
Yep. Somebody is either lol or latwttb (laughing all the way to the bank)!

Who knows, it sounds legit, I did look at it. I wonder if he is collecting names though, and emails for a larger situation. if so, it woudl be a great way to collect an email list,he has 518 now.

I have to add, money does not buy happiness, however it can help you to avoid alot of medical misery, hunger, homelessness and general depravity. Less educated people commit more crimes and violent crimes the more educated people. The difference, education pays. Very few people will float bad checks at the grocery store if they have money.

Money doesnt buy happiness, it avoids misery.
