I bought some lead-based paint from China and it had baby food mixed into it.
I wouldn't knowingly buy Chinese products, especially foods, if my life depended on it. |

Made in China usually signifies cheap tat. |

It depends on the product made in China. Garments made in China are in good quality. But I will not buy any food items since China does not have strict laws as in the US on chemicals used in food or food processing. Recently, baby formula made in China had made many basies very sick with kidney damage and some died from it.
Other products such as toys, designed and imported by US toy companies, Mattel and Hasboro containing lead paint and had been recalled.
Until the standards of safety in these "developping" countries come up to the par with US and other developped countries, it would be safe not to buy consumable products that are made in China and other developping countries.
We also need FDA (Food and Drug Administration) to do better and more testing for imported goods. It's my understanding that only 1% of the imported products are tested currently. During Bush administration, the testing staff at FDA had shrunk from 3,000 to only 800 people. How can 800 people test million of items imported. One of the major failures of Bush in protecting Americans. |

Trust does not come into it. In case you have not noticed a large percentage of anything you buy now, apart from foodstuffs, comes from China. If you refused to buy anything made in China you would have to make some significant changes in your domestic life.
Yes, a load of tat does come from China but many major domestic names have their products made in China exactly to their specification and using exactly the same quality of materials and with the same quality control checks in place that they used to use in Europe.
All goods are made to a market price, if you pay tat price, then tat is what you will get irrespective of where it is made. |

Like all articles produced, some chinese things are good, others are **** but overall they are fine except if you go ordering direct on the internet. |
