Adverts put me off buying products. They get on my nerves and completely exaggerate. Very misleading. |

i hardly watch commercials
i feel the commercial breaks are put there so i can run and get another snack or do some work for a few minutes
but when i watch them, i usually am not inclined to buy the product
paid-programming products are creative, but i'd never buy one
the only thing i've bought because of a commercial was a cd when i was younger |

It makes me aware of the product. But not necessarily encouraged or interested in buying the product. |

I always switch adverts to mute and will only buy something if it genuinely does look good |

No Im afraid it does not. I do like some of them they can be very entertaining.
The Tiscali one springs to mind |

Some of those TV advertising are nonsense, that is the reason why I buy DVDs to watch my favourate films. However, to be a more effective maketing tool, limit to five for every show in the TV. |

I avoid the adverts as much as possible, but occasionally my attention will be caught by a product and I might buy it if I think it looks good enough. |

the opposite in fact. If an annoying advert is on TV (such as sheilas wheels or halifax) then i will avoid those products as they have wasted 30seconds of my life and annoyed me in the process |

Not really. If I see something new, I think "I'll have to try that", but usually it doesn't make any difference to me. |

you're all wrong. you're all affected, either consciously or sub consciously. Mega corporations spend billions of pounds every year on advertising do you think they would do that if it didn't make them money. |

Yes. No, not unless it relates to me. If the ad annoys me then I make a conscious effort to avoid the product or service. It has to really annoy me. I usually put the tv on mute because tv ads are so much louder than the program. I have Tivo so I can rewind if I notice it too late.
edit: With TV ads, I find it helpful to have a healthy dose of skepticism. I don't buy into the promises the ads make. Most of the products aren't new or aren't brands that I'm not already familiar with. I usually go for the lowest price depending on what it is. Savvy consumers don't fall for the ploys of tv ads which is why they have gotten louder and more entertaining. I don't watch a lot of tv because a tv program seems to be mostly ads. Dancing with the Stars annoys me because it takes so long and dancing is so short. I don't watch it. I have better things to do. |
