Does a cilebraty figure improve sale in advertising?
Celebrities in ads can certainly improve sales. But only if they are properly used. The ad should link between that particular celebrity's characteristics and the product.Otherwise any ordinary model will do.

I was in advertising for 30 years, and I can tell you that it's a definit yes. But there is always the danger of the celebritty becoming a liability instead of an asset if he or she becomes notoriously known for some misdeed. A good example is Michael Jackson and Pepsico.

I think so.

as a rule yes, but with the wrong celebrity it can be disastrous, for instance who is the most appealing to Joe Public Jon Bonjovi or Gary Glitter

Horses for Courses.
You wouldn’t want David Beckham promoting tennis rackets. If the celebrity has relevance to the product or service it will work (Carol Vorderman and Sudoku ). Also if the celebrity has an affinity to the customers of the product this is a big advantage (Wayne Rooney’s WAG and ASDA).
Major problem though is that with some campaigns it becomes more of a vehicle for the celebrity’s fame than your own product. Also remember Pepsi paid Michael Jackson Millions just before all the allegations of child molesting came out.
It can work just needs to be planned properly. If you need help go to http://www.4psmarketing.com/advertising.htm
