There are many online forums where you can post your link. You have to follow the guidelines for each board.
You don't say what kind of product or service it is you are wanting to market so it is hard for me to answer where exactly posting your link would be appropriate.
Again, since I don't know the product/service, I suggest doing a search on Yahoo and Google for forums/message boards. If you are wanting to post a biz opt, for example, do a search for Free Classifieds, network marketing or direct sales boards, wahm or work at home boards and etc.
With that said, you can submit to directories and get an inbound link. Many are free.

Also, start your own blog at blogger.com or wordpress.
