I have a home business that I absolutely love. The only thing is that I personally have been spending some money to advertise. I know some ways to advertise for little or no cost (flyers, free classified ads, and word of mouth), but I need more ideas. Please help!

In response to the questions some of you asked, the company I'm with is a service based company. We offer different services to help people save money on their everyday expenses. Our goal is to have over 100 different services within the next year. So really, my target for now, is every consumer in the USA. Whatever type of marketing I do, it has to include my website so the customer can see the many different things we offer. |

I use autosurf programs like http://www.topsurfing.net to get free hits to my site. They help a lot in getting your website higher in the search engines. I also have never paid for any advertising and my sites do well in search engines. |

First of all, if you are writing checks from your personal account to pay for the business's needs, you can run into problems. Because if the IRS gets confused as to how much profit you made, you'll get audited. So keep the business's checking account completely separate from your personal account, until you're ready to take a profit from the business.
For advertising, it depends on your product.
About 10 years ago, someone paid to advertise their web site on the BOTTOM of somebody's shoes.
Who'd see that?!?

Craig's list might be a help. If you have a web site, then other web sites, such as Google might be a way to go. My best advice is to go ask the SBA (Small Business Administration) for help. |

Who are your target audience(s) and where or how are large numbers going to be accessed.
Let's say you are a local electrician or plumber. You will want to advertise to home owners in your area. Advertise in a local newspaper (in my city, there are free papers delivered to maybe a dozen or so suburbs). A letterbox drop of magnets with your details to a local area may work so people stick it on their refrigerator.
If your business was a children's wear business, market it at schools and where parents congregate... |
