Why the heck shouldn't they? If you come to an interview looking like crap, you don't deserve a job, and I don't care how qualified you are. I think the way people dress, makeup, cleanliness, mannerisms, tact, hairstyles, and weight are all fair game along with competence and qualifications.
Issues of gender or race however, are not areas that should affect the decision. |

Yes. However much they try to remain neutral concerning appearance, it is too ingrained in human nature. Very few, if any, can make a completely unbiased hiring choice. However, I should point out, that if someone is doing this intentionally, there are laws which protect against discrimination based on race, gender, et al. |

yes the coporate world does. but dont worry its reversed for colleges, tall white men have almost an impossible time getting accepted into college because they're way too many of them going through college. minoritys have all the luck here |

People dont want to admit it but yes, looks matter. There was a thing they did on a TV show where a good looking person and an average looking person were put in different situations to see if people would treat them differently. Such as dropping some papers and see if anyone offered to help pick them up, or when shopping in a clothing store,etc. It was so sad but the good looking people ALWAYS were treated better and got a lot better service. Sad but true! So next time, help an ugly person, if we all stick together think of the changes we can make by helping each other!! hee hee |
