I am a powerseller on eBay...eBay has just doubled the price sellers must pay to sell items in their BUY NOW listings. Even if the items do not sell we must pay eBay high listing prices. eBay also increased the final sales fee's when items are sold. eBay charges extra for each of dozens of seller options...like bold text..or framed listings..or 15cents for each additional product photo...eBay makes a fortune selling advertising space to non ebay sellers because they are an international monopoly. And they are uinfairly overcharging sellers in every possible way. I have found a way to get around some of this...but not all! If you are a seller NEVER pay for extra photos. Go to slide.com and make slide shows and paste the HTML code in your listings FREE. Go to myspace and look at profiles and find many graphics and sparkling text HTML code websites and build amazing listings by pasting the graphics HTML codes in your listings FREE. Lower the listings price 10%..add..10% to shipping cost |

eBay is not a monopoly.
And your little tricks to cheat them are probably one of the reasons they need to adjust their prices. Like I see people selling some little thing for 1 cent and then charging $25 for shipping and handling.
Does it not occur to you that when potential buyers see you cheating eBay they might not decide that you are not someone they want to do business with? |

I completely appreciate your point.
I know we'd all like to see eBay lower their fees but as they are the most popular auction site on the web they kinda have us by the you know whats.
Like a member above said there are ways of getting around the fees. Not charging the $25 postage though!
One technique is if you have an eBay store list an inventory item of the thing you want to sell for 5 cents or so depending on pictures etc. Then list an auction or buy it now item exactly the same as the inventory item but mark it as a pre-approval item so people have to ask you to be pre-approved and put on your list. You can then either direct them to your inventory listing by telling them the item number or put a link in the description saying to be pre-approved click here.
By doing this your end of item fee will be a alot less as you sold an inventory item and not a standard listing.
In essence you are using the standard listing as an advert for your store. I recommend using auctiva too to show all your items scrolling along the bottom of your description.

Ebay is not a monopoly. There are many other auction websites.
The reason eBay is so large and powerful is due to network effects. Early on in the company’s history eBay attracted a group of enthusiastic buyers and sellers (mostly traders of beanie babies and other odd collectibles and antiques). Through them Ebay also established itself as a trusted broker for electronic commerce. Then word-of-mouth spread the news that if you had something to sell or were looking for something hard to find, eBay was the place to go. That attracted more buyers and sellers of a broader array of items, and that started a self-perpetuating cycle.... If you have something to sell, you can go to another site, but you won't find the same large audience of potential buyers. So, sellers go to eBay – that’s where the buyers will be found. And, if you're trying to buy something you can look all over, but if you want to save time and have some reassurance about the reputation and reliability of the person you’re buying from in the anonymous world of e-commerce, then you'll probably find "it" on eBay – that’s where the largest number of trusted sellers will be found.
In the end, eBay's success is due to a positional advantage created by network effects. |

first of all usally that doesnt abide to the terms and conditions of using ebay,
second of all if you hate ebay so much with there prices go to www.craigslist.org
Ebay is a such a big site right now they can lower, rise there prices all they want and make good money, but that doesnt mean you have to buy all the photos, all the bold text, there options.
