First, make it sound good in the title.

Second, put a starting bid of 99 cents or 1 cent, anything below $1.

Third, Describe it well and make it sound like a great bargin for the buyer.

Fourth, never lie! If the buyer gives you a bad rating once you've sold it, it makes it harder to sell things. Most poeple won't buy off a seller with low ratings.

Fifth, Low or no shipping. Keep it as cheap as possible

Sixth, lots of pictures, to make it obvious what your selling

Seventh, Put a 'buy it now price' if wanted, sometimes you will get a better deal or quicker sale out of a 'buy it now' price than bidding.

Eighth, Offer as many payment methods as you can hold up on your end. Some people won't like paypal, others will prefer it. Suit everyone

And last of all, Answer any questions from buyers quickly and tell the winner when you've sent the item, and when you received the payment

If you do all or most of that, you will have no troubles on ebay.

latin_runner
Free shipping or low shipping, no reserve, good pics, good service, sound professional in your listing

i suggest using Amazon its great for selling because the items your selling are not hard to find and you know how much it is going to sell for

jaymez858
Take good picture of the items to show the physical condition. Within the description and title, list the brand, maker, and model numbers of the items you are selling. This will help your item show up in searches.

For more info, search 'completed auctions' of the items you are selling so you will have an idea of what they are selling for and what type of descriptions other sellers are using to command the selling prices they get.

If there are a lot of people selling the same item as you are, list your item on a Thursday afternoon for 3 days so it will end on Sunday when hopefully people are at home to make their final bids. If there are less than 5-7 auctions selling the same thing, you might want to have the auction last only one day; ending in the evening.

Try to give as much info about what you are selling as possible and sell your stuff at a low price.

If you're looking to but something wait till the last few days or hours to make a bid-you'll increase your chance of getting that item. Also, don't make your bids too high-increase it in increments you know you can afford.

Good picture and good description. Tell them you can be emailed for questions. Offer quick and well packed shipping. Then follow through. Tell them thank you after sale and leave note in box.

Locked & Loaded
Good quality pictures of your product. List it for a little less than anyone else may also have on ebay the same time yours is listed. do a little homework and see if a similar item is already on ebay to get an idea of what you can get for your item. You will get more bids if you start low. To protect yourself from having to possibly selling your item(s) at a low price, you can place a reserve on your item. Example: If you want $100.00 for your item, set your reserve at $100.00, but list it for $49.99. If nobody reaches your reserve your not obligated to sell if the bids don't reach $100.00. Once the reserve has been met, now the fun begins and you could get lucky and have 2 different people get into a bidding war. Most of the serious bidders wait until the last minute or two to try and steal the item from the last bidder. Your item when listed will show the time remaining before your listing ends. I use to sit and watch an item I wanted with a stop watch and when there was 10 seconds left I would place my last bid. It's hard for another bidder to respond to my higher bid with only 10 seconds left. After the 10 seconds has past, the auction is closed and if my bid went over your set reserve amount, I win your item. If it didn't go over your reserve, I don't get it and your not obligated to sell it. You still have to pay ebay for any listing fees even if your item didn't sell.

If it did sell, now you not only have to pay the listing fees, but now ebay has what they call Final Value Fees. That's a percentage of what the item actually sold for. To sell an item for around $100.00, your listing fees and final value fees can be around $10.00 depending on the options you choose when you list an item, so add a little more to your shipping charges to try and cover your fees from ebay.

I hope I haven't confused you. Good luck, I've had allot of fun buying and selling on ebay, but sometimes the ebay fees eat up most of your profit.

Most of the shopping goes on Sunday afternoons and evenings.

So, make sure your item will END at a convenient time for 9-5ers. For instance, start an auction on Monday evening at 9:30PM EST. It will then end on Sunday 9:30PM. There will be more interested parties looking for your items during that evening.

List houshold or kid's stuff on Monday afternoon (schedule this if you can't do it at that time.) It will then end on Sunday afternoon.

Get it?

SwtPea01
Show several pictures and describe these items TO A "T"! The better a description is, the higher the bids. Also list in two categories if you can. You get double the fees but sounds like you have a more expensive lot so it may be worth it for you. Go to gaming sites and post the link to your auction on the message board.

The best sellers give accurate descriptions (not just a quick blurb) I mean a full description, a couple pictures.

Some offer free shipping with buy it now price. Some offer discounted shipping for multiple wins.

Also a good seller answers all the buyers questions.

First off get a photobucket account. You'll want to use lots of pics, and ebay charges per pic if you upload to them. Take some pics of what your selling, and upload those pics to photobucket. If you know HTML code at all it helps. You'll want your auction to stand out from the rest. I used to use Microsoft Front Page to make my auctions. Dont use colors or backgrounds that are to bright and hurt the readers eyes, but you'll want to use anything other then a plain white background.
Make up the auction like you would make a webpage, insert your pics from photobucket, copy and paste all the code to the description box on ebay, and your all set.
Be as descriptive as possible but dont make it boring. If your buying a car you want to know everything about it, if your buying a network adapter you dont need to know as much.

ITEM DESCRIPTION
1. On the description, describe key words on items (check out other listings and see on the meter on how many visitors there were for them and do the same with your description, change it a little though)

ex. "toshiba v345 laptop great condition NO RESERVE low ship/free"

2. List your item on more than one category (you pay extra but it does help because some people don't look by exact name.

3. Use several pics (you pay extra), make sure you use your own, sometimes if ebay catches it, ebay will take out listing even if it's sold due to copyright laws.

PRICING
4. Buyers prefer to bid especially if starting is low. *There are different fees for each starting bid. (It's up to you).

5. You can also set a Reserve Price or not.. If you set a reserve price: some people do not like it, but you can specify "LOW Reserve" on description. If these items go for really high prices, specifying NO RESERVE is always good.

SHIPPING

6. Low or free shipping is always good. Offer express if you want. Priority mail is always good and make it flat rate for everyone instead of calculating by zip. On Description: "

7. Ship international if you want more buyers. Since this is electronics, you should set insurance either optional or required. Also offer tracking confirmation as part of shipping. You can offer both insurance and tracking as part or free if you really want to attract buyers.

RETURN POLICY

8. Offer one. Returns and refunds is always good. For me, I do not offer refund but offer insurance and that is how they get their refund only if item is broken/lost or stolen.

EXTRA:

You don't have to do this but there is a site with ebay called AUCTIVA.com and it's free. My items have nice templates for free and even has a slide of all items i'm selling. I've noticed that the people visiting have increased. Since all of your items are similar, it's a convenient way for people to look. It's totally free but do not buy Auctiva insurance (you have to disable it through your account settings if you do register for Auctiva). I found that out but I told them I don't want it and they still gave me back my $1.50. You do save money though because it's cheaper than usps.

Describe the item(s) the best you can..people love information!

Include a lot of pictures..buyers need to see what they are buying!
Make sure you pay extra for the "gallery" picture. This will help people see what you are selling at a glance.

Look at a listing of something similar to what you are selling, you can get ideas from that.

Start the bidding low. Some folks dont like to bid on things with a high beginning bid, but you can create a "reserve" which is the minimum that the item must receive as a final bid in order for there to be a winner.

Think about it, and set a "buy it now" price. Someone might be looking for what you are selling immediately and can't or doesnt want to wait for an auction.

Dont make your auction too long, or too short. I always set mine at 7 days.

Allow bidders to pay via PAYPAL..its fast and secure!

Set your shipping as a flat rate or charge ACTUAL SHIPPING.Check with post office to see what something like that would cost to ship. Dont pile on shipping charges (meaning charge way more that it actually costs) bidders dont like it, and it's against EBAY's Terms Of Service.

Good Luck!

first take good pictures and the other very important things is to make sure the buyer has a verified address. Also do not make any sale out of country. Too many things can go wrong. Good luck and I hope your get the money you want for your stuff.

You say that you are a new seller to ebay. Is your feedback score low? I am asking because sometimes if you are selling something expensive and you don't have very much feedback you might have a harder time selling your item.

That being said I think most everyone else covered it. Be clear on your shipping charges. Make your description short and too the point. Don't do any of the L@@K!! stuff that you see on there, most people pass it by because it is annoying.

Good clear picture, you don't need a ton of pictures and you don't need to list in multiple categories because when people type in the search words it will come up no matter where it is. So that is a waste of money.

Just be very descriptive, make sure you list any flaws no matter how minor, because people can be real jerks. I wouldn't recommend starting it out at a really low price, unless you are ok with letting it go for a low amount. I usually start my bid at the lowest possible price I am willing to take for an item, because ebay can be really weird sometimes. You will see something that went for alot of money on a Friday and then you have the exact same item and yours goes for half the price. So don't start too low, unless you are confident it will be bid up.

Also, Buy it Now has always been shaky for me, I think most people like the thrill of the bid and then some people don't want to hassle and want it right away.

Good luck, if you have any more questions you can message me. I sell as a sometime hobby and just listed 16 items today. So, if you need some help let me know.

most people only search by the titles, so the key words need to be there
(words that shoppers are looking for)

if everything works, it is critical to state that in your listing, and to tell how you know that

state what the shipping and handling costs will be

Queenie
1. Have your item description include words people would search under.
2. Pay for a sub-title and put something like "FANTASTIC CONDITION MUST SEE ITEM DESCRPITION."
3. Pay for extra pictures.
4. Start the bidding at £0.01 because people want a bargain. It tricks them into thiniking they are getting one. Also people search under "Price lowest first" so it would bring your up first.
5. Be fair with the postage and packaging.
6. Offer postage discount for more than one item purchased.
7. You could pay to get your advertisement highlighter but in my experience it doesn't make much difference and costs £2.50.

Treat it like a garage sale and price those things to get rid of them. You can name your price for shipping and handling, but the original price for those obsolete items needs to scream: "buy me."

be positive but not to positive because that gives people the impression its dishonest or exaggerated. And when its bought they may give you a bad rating for overstating the truth. you cant get bad feedback the way you used too. but they have a star system and if someone gives you a 1 out of 5 stars good luck selling again if you dont have much feedback..
It may seem frustrating at first but just like anything with time you'll start finding ways to simplify it or make some money.
If you have games to sell along with that system you might want to think about it because there easy to package and you can get an automatic description of the game and image just from the bar code when you list the item. Its the same with dvd's and cd's.
The blog spot on the ebay website is a great source for information and if your thinking of sticking with it auctiva is a free and simple listing program that alot of people on ebay use.
It lets you have more colorful backgrounds save the text used on your description for a similar auction as well as shipping prices and rules.
you can also upload images to your auctions for free without the fee that ebay charges you.

you gotta think like a buyer and have all the things a buyer would expect and want. start with lots of pictures. then start with a low starting bid. research what other identical products start out at and automatically go lower. that will attract bids right away.

Use photoshop, so it seems more appealing. Well use it only if you know how at least. Putting your item in caps like SELLING NETWORK ADAPTER doesn't really make a difference. When you're telling the customers about your item, you want to have a nice and simple delicious font color(: Plus since you're a new member, you do NOT want to screw up when shipping the item. Because otherwise people would see your feedback, and one negative, they're most likely not going to buy from you.

♥hotchip♥
try to think of the words people would use to search your items and try to use all of them in the title. also lots of pics, a good description & try to reply as friendly and as soon a you can to any questions. good luck

low starting price, more pictures. make your item bold (costs $1.00). No reserve price, free shipping, and guarantee good customer service.
Also have a return policy, that makes the buyer feel better.
