I have been with Google Adsense since June 2003, and my first month alone I earned $500+ -- and that was just banners placed at the bottom of a few of my pages.
I have since changed the location of the ads and optimized a lot of things, and Adsense has given me SIGNIFICANT income a month.
Some sites do very well with Adsense (even in the millions of dollars a year) while many more sites do extremely poorly with the program (can't even earn $10 a month). One of the misconception people have about Adsense is they simply slap it in their websites and it will automatically earn them big money -- which is not true as evidenced by the many disgruntled webmasters
Your income will depend on:
- the topic of your site (if you have high paying keywords you stand to earn more)
- responsiveness of users to ad (are visitors coming to your site with blinders in their eye or do they look at the ads as additional complementary resource)
- traffic (you earn more with more traffic, even if you have low paying keywords or other metrics)
- how you implement the ads on your site (some positions and colors work better than others)
Traffic certainly helps, but even if you don't have gazillion of traffic but has the right type of website you can certainly earn from Adsense. One website with 10,000 uniques a day can earn $50 a month while another may earn $5,000 - so traffic is not really the sole indicator of what you can earn from the program
I suggest you join the program (you've got nothing to lose as it is free) and see how your site will do with it. |

There is a LOT of money to be made from AdSense. They paid out a little over two billion dollars to publishers the first quarter of this year, so people are making some serious money.
The best thing you can do with AdSense is diversify. Keep working on your main site, but build others. Create a Squidoo lens or use other revenue sharing sites to make a little bit extra. For example:
Start a blog on WritingUp and you'll keep some of the ad revenue:

Post some videos to FlixYa and keep some of the ad revenue:
http://www.flixya.com/
Post interesting threads at DigitalPoint and they'll split the revenue with you:
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/
Use ScreenDig to create a site about a tv show or movie that you love and you get half of the ad revenue:
http://www.screendig.com/
All of those examples above will tie directly into your AdSense account. If you work in enough different places you don't need to make much from each one to have it add up. For example, if you made $1/day from each of those four examples I gave, that would be $120/month. Not too bad.

HONESTLY - Instead of hankering for Adsense Dollars there are many more sites that pay you a GOOD amount of money.
I am making money from my website to the tune of £5.00 every month and I received £10.00 , JUST for signing up :) I think it's a damn good way to make a Decent Income with your Website or Blog.
I am expecting a payment of £55.00 with 11 websites I have this month. |

It works. I have a site and it gets around about 200 visitors a day and returns about 6 bucks. Not bad heh! Thing is though I have about fourteen of the same sites doing the rounds. I have also one blog that gets no comments, no links and returns in excess of thirty bucks a day. It is like a ghost town but still is my top income earner. Thing is this is 24/7 365 days per year. Do the math and see if its worth mentioning. Don't forget though, this was all done for free. Started with a blog, made a few bucks, put websites together and now sit back. My profile has more. |
