Whats the best way to promote my book , Hoo's Who - i put it on myspace and it's available from www.lulu.com/content/2304724 but without a big budget - or any budget, whats the best way to promote it? It's a social history book so not a huge market????
First thing you should do before promoting your book on the internet is to find out if your possible targets online want what you've written in your book, this will determine if you will make money or not.
A place to start is to look at what people are searching for that relates to history, you can also check on existing websites dealing with history online and see what they have as content, you can check on keyword searches done on history at www.keyworddiscovery.com/search.html.
Once you're certain your book looks like what your targets are searching for then you can look for ways to promote it, you can set up a website (there are low cost websites you can get) or a blog (you can get a free blog from www.blogger.com) to sell your book and you can promote it with free advertising by writing articles, contributing on forums etc

psychologically you can make someone notice something if that is unusual and needs cognitive procession. you can put a price that has for example many 1 11.11 or you can have as a cover something that is totally irrelevant with the subject if your book. you can put your book in the middle of other different books you can publicize a new book which would be exactly the same with the first but the second book would have a higher price for example if your book cost 11.11 the ''new'' book must cost 19.22.

You can use sites which specifically deal with writers and publishers like WriteSight.com.
If you list it on some sites for writers and participate in there forums you'll definitely get some workable solution.

Social history?...wow, how interesting tell me more...
I suppose you can start a blog on Social History and plug your book every once in a while. Do lots of videos on all things Social History and post them on your blog.
Have the book on Clickbank...
