Maybe ask your customers? They are the best source of information in this case. I know it may be awkward. They may be able to help you idenitify a way to differentiate yourself from the competition. You want to be unique and do things differently than others. Like offering pedicures during the hair cut! Do something extra...
Also, maybe have policy of guaranteeing satisfaction (within reason-people can be really an al about their hair!)
Instead of discounts, maybe have a referral program - for each new referral, a free offer a free hair care product.

Have you considered that maybe you are not that good? Maybe you should take a refreshing course, just to touch up on what you know and maybe learn something new. Don't get me wrong I don't mean this in an insulting way, just some advice. |

Charge a fair price! You cannot stay in business giving everything away for free...and folks don't appreciate the discount, as you can see from your own experience.
You can do a frequent haircut card, so when they purchase 10, they get one free. That would allow you to give something away without going broke in the process.
Also, switch to dogs. There is more money in dog grooming and the clients usually show up like clockwork every 2 weeks! |
