Has anyone ever heard of Melaleuca?

Polymath
Melaleuca is a multi-level marketing company. The business is based on you becoming a distributor, and then recruiting other distributors. In a perfect world, you get a percentage of the purchases of the people you recruit (Level 1) and a smaller part of everyone THEY recruit (level 2) and so on...

The problem is, that even if you stick to the plan, 95% of the people you recruit will quit after the first year, and many of those will not recruit others. So you will need to recruit about 100 people to keep five.

The other wrinkle is a legal one. When I first tried Melaleuca, the idea was that you bought for yourself, and your recruits would buy for themselves. The problem is that it is considered an illegal "pyramid scheme" unless most of your sales are to outside customers, not distributors.

Before signing up, read ALL the fine print, and read other people's comments on the internet.

Quixtar is a similar program, which has more variety, but the recruitment statistics are still about the same.

It is a tree that is very invasive here in Florida. It was brought here a long time ago to dry up the wetlands for development but has also managed to kill off native trees and plants and take over forests.

I have been a customer for 10 years and love the products. I do not know where sanchasworth gets his info, I have recommended the company to a few friends (9) and after a year all are still members and thanking me for recommending the products to them. The statistics are 60% of Melaleuca members are just customers using great products and services. Another 32% have referred at least one person, and 8% have reached a developmental status or higher. It is not a business for everyone but that does not mean you can't enjoy high quality, safe non-toxic products as a member. I save a lot of money with their products and services and get a small check for the small amount of work I have done. I do not expect to get paid for doing nothing, just because you become a member does not mean you are guaranteed a check although 5 of the 9 I have signed do get a check from what I have done. Only one has signed an additional person to date. But they never said they wanted a business they just wanted healthy products and are satisfied with what they have gotten. As for the "illegal wrinkle" all Melaleuca does is pay it's customers for advertising for them by word of mouth, so instead of paying 10 cents for a dollars worth of product at the store and 90 cents goes to the manufacturer and distributor with Melaleuca when you pay a dollar for a product 30 cents is product value, that is 3 times the value of ingredients goes into a product. 55cents approximately goes back to the members and the rest goes to research and development along with overhead for the company. If it were illegal the owner would not sit on the board of ethics for the United States Chamber of Commerce! Nobody in Melaleuca is a distributor unless they are stupid. What is the point of having a company that ships directly if you then deliver products? What good are you doing somebody charging them retail when they can save 30-40% being a preferred member? Plus if you think Quixtar (Amway) is similar you need to read the fine print!

I am adding this for Bobbi Z , If you were enrolling that many people and they were leaving that fast then you were not following the business plan that Melaleuca has layed out. These were not quality enrollments to say the least. If you take the time with the people and they actually used the products this would not have happened. You obviously did not use the products either if you think they are overpriced and that is the other reason you failed. I have known the nurse that refered me for about 10 years and while I have not built a big business I have watched her make a six figure income the whole time I have known her. She has been doing this for 15 years! I know about cleaning and costs of products I had a caretaking business for 6+ years and my costs were extremely low using these products. This sounds more like a sell for your current business than a critique of Melaleuca.

Melaleuca is just another name for Tea tree oil. It's a natural ingredient that's added to everything from shampoo to laundry detergent and even first aid products and toothpaste's.It's a pretty versatile ingredient and many people swear by it.
