They actually are legit, except the cost is much higher than if you actually bought the product yourself. Generally, in order to get the product you have to sign up for 8, 10 or more "offers". An offer might be signing up for a credit card (that might have an annual fee), buying a subscription service of some sort (which is non-refundable), getting 10 people you know to do the same, etc.
The businesses exist and the ads make money because lots of people start the process, and maybe even buy a thing or two, before pulling out when they realize it'd be easier and cheaper to just go and BUY the iPod (or whatever it is they are advertising as free).
Either way, the first step is ALWAYS getting your contact info, which the advertiser can then resell repeatedly.
Avoid at all costs and don't be one of the handful of people who paid dearly for a free item! |

It depends on how good you are at getting others to follow you. I got my free laptop a long time ago but everyone knows that 95% of the people who try anything like this are losers and don't follow through, so the companies make a lot of money. |

I'm sure we all have had a friend who's friend's friend won one, but not me. You give out a crap load of info about you and there's no guarantee that you will get it. |

no they have not. those popups that say you will win ipods and other such things are just trying to get you to click the link so that the site will get hits. |

No...not worth it. Just a scam. But if I did win something from one of those pop-ups or emails, it would be a piece of junk...a computer lacking any decent software. Plus, because you have to sign up for at least 2 other offers, you would end up with just extra spam email...or even snail mail. I think that's all those contests are for...to get your email and / or home address and just have you on some junk list. |
