More seriously, marketing and promotion are important, and if you have something newsworthy, then yes, let the world know. What's relevant depends on who you are, your value proposition, and your target audience.
However, given the realistic assumptions that there are limits to your time and budget, you risk diluting your core message and values if you spend them promoting fluff.
