ebolasoup | Have you ever bought a Budweiser, MIller, Coors, Pepsi or Coke after seeing one of their advertisements? |
These brands are so well known, they are so ingrained in our culture,even if they stopped advertising, they would still be major brands.
Meanwhile these companies continue to spend millions upon millions on advertising.
I'm sure they are going after NEW YOUNG customers since most older consumers tend to be set on their brands and are not likely to switch outright to another no matter how many clever ads they see. Even still, if they are going after young consumers, don't these brands tends to be passed along through peers and family. In the case of these major brands I mentioned I just don't see how spending that much money is cost effective. |

obviously, since I have drank all those brands and if I hadn't seen ads for them, probably wouldn;t know they existed - if they didn;t constantly advertise - you would probably forget about some of those brands after awhile - it's happened to me with certain types of goods over the years, or if one soda advertised a lot and the other one never did, I almost guarantee over time you will drift toward the one advertised - subliminal mindf*** America (Green Day) |

I see what you're saying but think of it this way. All of those brands DO spend millions on ads. Is there a major brand out there that doesn't? So, it seems in order to become a major brand you have to spend that type of money. If Pepsi stopped spending that type of cash eventually they would not be as huge. |

I have not bought anything to do with seeing those advertisements, the main reason is that I do not watch much television. The names you have just said well I know for a fact that Coke is a name that is now well branded in every-ones head , the first time I think about a soft drink I think about Coke a Cola. |

Not really...I like what I like and that's the way it is. Sometimes I will try something new if I see an ad for it but I rarely like it as much as my old faves. I like Coke, Dr Pepper and that's about it for soda. I like dark beers mostly and probably would never drink a Coors or Miller unless it was the only beer. I do feel that ads can be subliminal though and suck people in who are not as aware or not as strong minded. Just watch little kids who are seeing commercials, they sometimes go into a trans-like state, kind of scary! |
