I am a Graphic Designer so I have seen this many times. It depends on what profession really. If you have say a cleaning business or a dry clean business it's not really necessary.
I worked for a guy who would go canvas businesses for their graphic design needs. He got a lot of work and his thing was regardless of what type of business he brought his camera everywhere and would take snap shots of all the people to put on their business cards etc....aggh Why? I remember these 3 poor guys looking pathetic standing next to their delivery truck. I think if you need a "professional appearance" to earn peoples initial trust sure (lawyer, realtor, accountant), if not, you just end up looking like someone who wants their picture on print or just didn't know what to have on their card.
By the way, if you want a card. I am a stay at home Mom right now (3@3&under) I miss design and would love to design one for you for free. The only thing I ask is if you do like it and get it printed send me a few for portfolio purposes. If so let me know. If not luck to you! |

I have found if you create a unique card that doesn't look like the standard black or blue print on white stock and a simple logo - you get noticed and called more.
I have these black plastic business cards that gleem in the light, with rick blue red and gold colors in my logo. |
