Do you think that a fast-food chain that sells only nutrient rich and low fat menu options would be supported by consumers or would it fail? Many people chose to go to Subway for it's low fat menu options. I think more diet-conscious people would patronize such a restaurant because they know when they go there they would not be tempted by more harmful menu options. It's not enough to put salads and fresh fruit on the menu. Lots of people are on diets, and lots of people have little time to cook, so why not cater to specifically to them. What if McDonalds made this type of restaurant part of their own corporate design, but call it something else so that the negative connotations associated McDonalds wouldn't repell business? Would they gain by serving an even broader segment of the population?
What are the strenghts and weaknesses of such a idea? I am open to any of your ideas.
I think it depends on cost and/or location. A place like that in a college town probably wouldn't do as well as one located in an area with middle aged and older people.
Panera somewhat falls into this segment I believe. Healthy choices and food that you get fairly quickly. ...It seems to be pretty popular.

It would go big guins (IF) you keep it clean and serve tasty food. just look at how sucessful subway is. people are getting tire of the bloat and want a change. If you got the backing there is no way you gonna fail.

You can't put healthy and fast food together in a sentence....it's an oxymoron, I think!!

There are no healthy fast food restaurants, but fast food restaurants now have a heathier side. So, now you can have chicken salad or grilled chicken sandwhich instead of a hamburger and fires. Plus, most fast food places now offer bottled water, so you can get that instead of soda. That's the way I look at there aren't any healthy fast food places, but there are healthy things you can eat.
